Company Overview

Kairos Power is a new nuclear energy technology and engineering company whose mission is to enable the world’s transition to clean energy, with the ultimate goal to dramatically improve people’s quality of life while protecting the environment. This goal will be accomplished through the commercialization of the fluoride-salt-cooled, high-temperature reactor (FHR) that can be deployed with robust safety, affordable costs, and flexible operation to accommodate the expansion of variable renewables.

Job Summary

Kairos Power is seeking a highly motivated Strategic Commercial Initiatives Intern to structure ambiguous problems and suggest actions and high level plans. The intern in this role will do this by (i) working with diverse teams at Kairos Power to establish trust-based relationships, (ii) facilitating contact and partner relationship management, and (iii) synthesizing complex information into clear takeaways and risks.

Responsibilities

1. Program/Project Management

  • Develop program plan(s), process, ownership (roles and responsibilities), deliverables, and timelines
  • Ensure assigned projects are managed within budget, key performance indicators, and in accordance with company governance frameworks and standards

2. Relationship Management

  • Support Kairos Power’s various partnerships, existing and expected, through meeting and events management, setting objectives and outcomes, and knowledge capture
  • Assist with customer and partner relationship management, acting as a bridge between external counterparts and internal cross-functional Kairos Power teams 

3. Customer Relationship Management (CRM) best practices and deployment

  • Maintain and enhance Kairos Power's CRM, supporting processes, and documentation to optimize customer and relationship tracking

4. General Commercial Business Strategy Execution

  • Meeting facilitation, note taking, and translation of notes to key deliverables, risks, take aways, and roles and responsibilities

Qualifications

  • Must be enrolled in a Bachelor's degree program currently
  • Expected graduation date between December 2023-August 2024
  • 0-1 years of full-time relevant experience
  • Microsoft Office skills including Outlook and PowerPoint
  • Excellent communication skills - both verbal and written
  • Attentive to detail with a demonstrated commitment to delivering high quality work products
  • Versatility, flexibility, and willingness to adapt job responsibilities as required to meet the demands and opportunities of a rapidly growing company
  • Strong candidates will have either internship experience or interest in acquiring experience in the following areas: (i) commercial and financial structuring of power project transactions, (ii) understanding of how the power business works including power markets and power purchasing, and (iii) development, refinement, and review of comprehensive project finance models
  • Ability to work with highly collaborative team
  • Ability to solve problems quickly and efficiently
  • Ability to proactively collect, manage and transfer knowledge
  • Ability to seek different and novel ways to create efficiencies when working on problems, challenges and issues

Physical Conditions

  • Remaining in a stationary position, often standing, or sitting for prolonged periods
  • Moving about to accomplish tasks or moving from one worksite to another
  • Adjusting, moving, transporting, installing, positioning, or removing objects up to 50 pounds in all directions
  • Communicating with others to exchange information

  • High-concentration, demanding and fast-paced

Safety and PPE

  • Reading and interpreting hazardous warning signs
  • Wearing proper PPE, to include face mask, face shields, gloves, safety shoes

Travel

  • Limited travel may be required (up to 10%)

The hourly range for this position is $25-27 employees working onsite at our Alameda, CA headquarters or $24-26 for remote employees working in California. The range provided in this job posting represents the typical range or starting rate of candidates hired in California.
