Strategic Communications Manager – Social Media
Job Description
Verisign enables the security, stability, and resiliency of key internet infrastructure and services, including providing root zone maintainer services, operating two of the 13 global internet root servers, and providing registration services and authoritative resolution for the .com and .net top-level domains, which support the majority of global e-commerce.
The Strategic Communications Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of Verisign's corporate social media channels. This role is responsible for managing and implementing the corporate digital media program, including monitoring social media channels, social and traditional media listening and reporting on Verisign brand mentions and relevant industry topics, responding to inbound messages, content publication, and social media optimization.
The ideal candidate is able to collaborate across the organization to implement strategic communications objectives, demonstrating a strong mix of creative, analytical, and collaborative skills. This position requires a passion for learning, a natural curiosity to understand the data, strong project management, attention to detail, as well as online reputation management skills to be able to quickly flag and respond to developing issues in today’s 24/7 digital environment.
Responsibilities
- Maintain a consistent brand and messaging identity across all Verisign corporate social channels.
- Manage the digital component of the Strategic Communications editorial
- Manage the execution of organic social media, working with internal stakeholders and external resources to develop content aligned with strategic communications strategy, as well as content calendar scheduling, programming, publication, monitoring, and moderation.
- Monitor online/social communities and traditional media. Facilitates responses to inquiries in a timely fashion, including social chatter for areas where Verisign can contribute to or enhance the conversation. Monitors industry activity in online communities across the globe, and regularly prepares and presents reports and analyses to internal stakeholders.
- Monitor and track performance of strategic communications initiatives, serving as the lead for channel performance across corporate digital properties.
- Manage Verisign’s social and traditional media management tools promoting adoption with internal stakeholders; and identifying and building efficiencies.
- Staying current on industry and social media trends; documenting and preparing actionable insights and recommendations to internal stakeholders.
- Serves as one of the company’s social media experts and employee advocacy leaders, conducting training on tools and best practices for employees.
Requirements
- 5+ years related experience in social media, public relations, or a related field
- 4-year Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience in Marketing, Communications or a related field
- Working knowledge of and experience with major social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, and YouTube)
- Knowledge of social and traditional media listening, monitoring, and moderation tools
- Proficiency with social and traditional media management solutions, such as Sprinklr
- Solid analytical skills and experience measuring and presenting the results of social media activity
- Excellent writing, proofreading and copyediting skills
- Exceptional attention to detail
- Strong business communications skills
- Strong collaboration and team skills
- Sound judgment and critical thinking skills
