Job Description
We’re Spark, a mission-driven company helping independent Medicare brokers build the insurance business of their dreams. The vast majority of beneficiaries select benefits with the help of an independent broker, but technology and support for brokers is woefully antiquated. We provide workflows and services to help brokers achieve transformative growth.
In just three years, we’ve partnered with over 3,000 brokers and enrolled over 60,000 beneficiaries, making us the fastest-growing Medicare brokerage in the country. Brokers love us: during this period of intense growth, we’ve maintained an NPS of 91, a client retention rate of 93%, and we’ve helped brokers grow on average >100% since partnering with us.

Summary
What you’ll do:
- Relentlessly prospect - directly outreach to Medicare agencies, build relationships with local carriers & providers, & run sales recruitment events / seminars in your market
- Drive lead generation - establish rapport and build trust, deeply understand pain points, clearly communicate Spark’s value propositions, set qualified sales opportunities with Medicare agenciesÂ
- Be a Medicare expert and thought leader - develop a comprehensive understanding of the market, educate others (internally and externally) on market nuances, form a perspective on how to help Medicare agencies grow their businessesÂ
- Report on and optimize the sales process - diligently track sales pipeline metrics, document notes and takeaways from sales conversations, provide feedback on sales collateral, tools, and strategy, and identify opportunities to run a smoother and more effective sales process
What you’ll need:
- Bachelor’s degree
- +5 years of sales experience managing broker relationships at a local or national Medicare insurance carrier
- Deep, in-market relationships with Medicare agency owners or principalsÂ
- Passion about sales and business development
- Dedication to sales process and optimizationÂ
- Tenacity and creativity to develop new business opportunities
- Strong prospecting and negotiation skills
- Comfort with ambiguity; ability to be flexible in a rapidly changing environment
- Experience working within sales engagement software and CRMÂ
How you'll be compensated:
- Spark is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. The base salary range for this role is currently $80,000 - $110,000 for NYC positions only. Salary ranges are determined through alignment with market data. The base salary amount offered is determined by a number of factors including the candidate’s experience, qualifications, and skills. This salary range may differ in other states.
- Uncapped commission tied to new Medicare enrollments
- Eligibility for equity
Our salary ranges are based on paying competitively for our company’s size and industry, and are one part of the total compensation package that also includes equity, benefits, and other opportunities at Spark. In accordance with New York City, Colorado, California, and other applicable laws, Spark is required to provide a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. Individual pay decisions are ultimately based on a number of factors, including qualifications for the role, experience level, skillset, geography, and balancing internal equity. A reasonable estimate of the current salary range is listed below. We expect most candidates to fall in the middle of the range. We also believe that your personal needs and preferences should be taken into consideration, so we allow some choice between equity and cash.
