Job Description
Applied Research Solutions is seeking a full-time Strategic Initiatives Lead at our Corporate Office in Beavercreek, OH. This role's primary function will be to lead strategic business initiatives from development through successful execution with a primary focus on the build-out of an organic business intelligence network to aid in capturing and retaining business within the Federal Government marketplace.
Responsibilities include:
Strategy/Business Intelligence Analysis (45%)
- Lead strategic business initiatives from development through successful execution.
- Build the foundational elements of a business intelligence program by leveraging technology to automate, streamline, and integrate processes.
- Build, develop, and maintain repeatable, accurate, and credible metrics, dashboards, and reports, by collaborating with cross-functional teams to build alignment and standardize definitions.
- Use data analytic techniques to map out and assess the competitive landscape within defined business units.
- Generate and communicate business case rationale, risks, and value propositions to Senior Leadership and teams.
- Collaborate with corporate leadership in decision-making, program management, and strategic priority implementation.
- Generate detailed assessments of the customer landscape through experience, research and engagement.
- Identify opportunities to improve operational performance by identifying trends and sources of variation.
Business Development & Capture Management (35%)
- Identify and respond to new business opportunities including Request for Information (RFI), Request for Quotes (RFQ), Request for Proposal (RFP) and/or task orders under Multiple Award IDIQ Contract (MAC) Vehicles in the federal government marketplace.
- Analyze and understand the customers' desired capabilities, relevant competitive environment, technological trends to incorporate into actionable strategies and tactics.
- Develop and nurture relationships with key customers and industry peers at various levels throughout their respective organizations.
- Organize and guide cross-functional teams in developing the strategies and business cases to support positioning and capturing new opportunities.
- Prepare and package concise clear and compelling briefings that include the positioning strategy/plan, customer map, needs, and action plans required to implement a winning strategy.
- Coordinate development and implementation of marketing communications campaigns to support pursuits.
- Support fellow BD leads with adjacent pursuit strategies providing customer and capability subject matter expertise.
- Work to uncover and pursue new business opportunities using industry tools such as GovWinIQ; FedMine, SAM.gov; GSA eBuy, and specific MAC vehicles supporting the federal government marketplace.
- Coordinate meetings with customers, competitors, clients, and teammates to develop market insight on requirements, acquisition strategy, acquisition timing, and contract vehicle choices.
- Plan and participate in capture activities, to include opportunity gate reviews, black hat sessions, collaboration and workshop sessions, proposal review.
Technical Writing & Proposal Management (20%)
- Develop, manage, and execute all aspects of proposal management. Prepare and conduct proposal kickoff meeting and recurring stand-up meetings. Ensure proposals remain on schedule and internal milestones are met.
- Analyze requirements and prepare proposal outlines.
- Write/review proposal sections as required. Edit technical proposals and provide recommendations for improvement.
- Interface with teammates from internal functional organizations as well as external prime, subcontractor or partner organizations.
- Develop win themes and other proposal artifacts.

**This role is evolving, and opportunities to expand responsibilities and take on more challenging tasks will be readily available. A high degree of flexibility and ability to handle ambiguity and changing priorities are required.**
Qualifications/ Technical Experience Requirements:
- Must be a U.S. Citizen
- Direct experience utilizing data analytics, associated tools, and business intelligence principles.
- Bachelor's Degree in a relevant technical, business, management, or English curriculum and have at least 5 years of relevant experience (Master's Preferred).
- Ability to obtain & maintain Secret Security Clearance (Top Secret/SCI preferred).
- Proven knowledge of the USAF acquisition process and industry pursuit cycle with the ability to influence, build relationships, communicate, understand customer needs, and develop winning strategy/solutions.
- Domain knowledge of the federal government marketplace primary in the ARS core capabilities including Engineering & Logistics, Research & Development, Special Programs, and Education & Training.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and action items simultaneously.
- Strong organizational, research, identification, and tracking skills necessary to uncover new business opportunities.
- Advanced knowledge of relevant tools, equipment, hardware, and software.
- Excellent written, verbal, and communications skills that can transform complex technical compliance concepts and processes in a clear and concise language.
- Effective customer and organizational level communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
- Task order proposal management, technical writing and proposal development experience.
- Solid understanding of project management, contracts, and proposal development to support requirement to work across corporate resources to successfully lead responses to RFQs / Task Orders.
- Ability to work with a minimum of supervision and be attentive to details.
- Ability to work constructively in a team environment.
- Ability to exercise initiative, good judgment and accuracy.
- Excellent knowledge and demonstrated work experience using the Microsoft Office software: Word, Excel, Power Point plus Adobe Acrobat.
