Strategic Insights/Competitive Intelligence Analyst

Job Description:

The Corporate Strategic Insights Analyst position offers the opportunity to learn about all aspects of the commercial vehicle industry while supporting our Strategic Insights and Corporate/Business Development Teams. This role incorporates researching the commercial vehicle industry, competition, emerging technologies, merger/acquisition activity, corporate developments and other external forces affecting Allison Transmission.

This role supports Senior Leadership in strategy development by focusing on the assessment of key external factors impacting the business of Allison. It offers exposure to all business functions within Allison and with that, the potential to grow personally and professionally within the organization. This access will expand your technical and industry knowledge and will challenge you to understand how Allison fits within the commercial vehicle and competitive landscapes.

Key Responsibilities

• Utilizes the Allison Intelligence Portal (our centralized information hub and repository for all industry, competitor, customer and product news, intelligence, and reports) to discern insights from a variety of external factors and influences, and advise Senior Leadership of developments and opportunities that impact Allison's business
• Supports the Allison Corporate and Business Development activities with research and analysis regarding Core, Adjacent, Electrified Propulsion and Technology Development knowledge and insights; regularly reporting to Senior Leadership and key support Functions
• Monitors information sources and reports for key industry information (e.g. market dynamics, regulatory developments, etc.) and helps develop useful, actionable assessments and recommendations. Conducts secondary research on various topics concerning competitors, markets, and other relevant topics
• Conducts primary research of competitor, industry participant and technology company profiles, business development information packets, and targeted industry reports to discern various trends
• Attends industry related trade shows as necessary; assisting in the collection and distribution of competitor, industry and external forces information
• Responds to spontaneous or directed internal requests for competitor information
• Tracks and analyzes competitive announcements and new product releases

Qualifications

Required

• Bachelor Degree required, MBA preferred, or equivalent experience in Allison business, technical or industry
• Naturally inquisitive. Has a want to learn and enjoys research mentality.
• Likes the pursuit of connecting seemingly unrelated information and synthesizing insight(s)
• Ability to organize, prioritize and plan effectively
• Displays good judgment with sensitive information
• Outstanding oral and written communication skills
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite of products

Preferred

• Equally capable and comfortable working independently and within teams
• Working knowledge of databases and the internet, gathering and archiving information.

Experience

• 5+ years equivalent experience in Allison business, technical or industry
• General understanding of Allison Sales, Marketing and Engineering functional roles and responsibilities
• Experience with the commercial vehicle industry, Allison markets, customers, OEMs or competitors
• Understanding with transmission or vehicle propulsion systems, their application, and customer value(s)
