Segment Marketing Director - Strategic Partnerships Marketing

This position is responsible for driving acquisition and cross-sell marketing programs and campaigns for pharma and other strategic partners to the Evernorth/Express Scripts PBM businesses in alignment with GTM targeting directives.

Success is dependent upon productive collaboration with leaders across the Enterprise including Express Scripts PBM, Forsyth Health, Ascent Health Services, and Evernorth Wholesale Marketplace and their teams as well as engagement with cross-enterprise marketing teams and agency partners.

This is a business-to-business role that requires understanding of Challenger selling and best practices in leveraging social, digital and offline marketing strategies and tactics.

The Director and his/her team will look for opportunities in the challenges posed by market forces, regulatory environments, buyer/partner needs and developments in health care. S/he will serve as a strategic and proactive thought-partner and collaborate with the business, cross-segment marketing teams and Centers of Excellence (including Brand, Marketing Insights, customer relationship management (CRM), Marketing Operations and Communications). The successful leader must be comfortable in an environment of dynamic change and evolution.

Focus is on the following key areas:

  • Lead market messages, content development and marketing communications to demonstrate differentiated positioning as it relates to specific buyer audiences.
  • Providing direction for establishing strategic goals aligned with critical business challenges and opportunities, including but not limited to: Developing and leading annual strategic marketing planning process, driving the development of marketing plans/initiatives, and directing execution with team and business partners.
  • Leads development of Pharma Value Prop/Messaging
  • Establishes differentiating solution- and service-level messaging
  • Directs GTM and upsell strategy for Ascent Health Services, Forsyth Health, Evernorth Wholesale Marketplace + new partnerships
  • Support of Sales and Account Management teams supporting new and growing entities
  • Direct the creation and execution of a portfolio of strategic marketing approaches to drive client acquisition, and growth, from demand generation to Account Based Marketing, across stakeholders, buyer groups and markets.
  • Drive innovative approaches and techniques (new technologies, channels, vendors, personalization, pilots, etc.) to optimize effectiveness and results of foundational capabilities and B2B engagement, acquisition and cross-sell campaigns and programs.
  • Establish and optimize strategic matrix-partner relationships within and outside of marketing to yield dynamic, flexible, impactful direct marketing strategy and actions, driving quantifiable results for partners.
  • Develop communications campaigns, events and other marketing programs that consistently position sales teams to win.
  • Ensure all marketing programs are tracked and results reported with appropriate scorecards and metrics

Key Responsibilities

  • Leads development of Pharma Value Prop/Messaging, partnering with PBM Solutions Marketing Director to pull through solution-driven value props and messages
  • Directs GTM and upsell strategy for Ascent Health Services, Forsyth Health, Evernorth Wholesale Marketplace + new partnerships
  • Support of Sales and Account Management teams supporting new and growing entities
  • Works with Senior Director to contribute to establishing strategic goals and annual plans across Pharma + new strategic partnerships in alignment with marketing and enterprise goals
  • Works closely with Accredo and CSD pharma marketing to ensure holistic, consistent pharma value prop, messaging, and strategies
  • Provide strategic input on content and incentives to drive stakeholder and buyer behavior.
  • Responsible for designing and managing oversight of omnichannel marketing campaigns and delivered by COE or agency vendors.
  • Identify, create and report on metrics and milestones to measure success, determine return on investments (ROI) and find opportunities to drive improvement.
  • Reach diverse audiences including: pharmaceutical manufacturers, PBMs, GPOs; external sponsors; vendors and agency partners; the media / public.
  • Work with capability area sales team to define training, support material, and tool requirements.
  • Work with account teams, develop account-specific segmentation, messaging, campaign, and channel strategies (1:1, 1:Few, 1:Many)
  • Lead channel innovation and emerging channel identification to influence future campaign planning, allocations, strategy, and execution. Define, develop and implement modern marketing processes including digital marketing, design thinking, marketing automation, predictive analytics and omni-channel program delivery.
  • Lead a team responsible for managing day to day support for developing and executing on strategies aligned with GTM and growth priorities.
  • Attract, develop and inspire a high-performing team. Responsible for assessing and managing marketing talent and teams against documented responsibilities. Make adjustments as necessary. This includes clarifying new responsibilities and balancing workload.
  • Create marketing campaign budget and direct all actions to ensure adherence to, including scenario planning based on business needs.
  • Contribute to Integrated Marketing Plan development

Qualifications should include:

  • 10+ years' experience developing and implementing marketing strategies and plans
  • Experience in B2B healthcare industries. Experience in Healthcare, insurance, pharma and/or PBM marketing strongly preferred
  • Demonstrated strategic orientation coupled with outstanding operational execution
  • Bachelor's degree is required, graduate degree strongly preferred
  • Expert English language communicator
  • Enterprise thinker with proven ability to influence across a matrix environment. Ability to develop relationships across all levels of the organization, as well as externally.
  • Strong financial acumen and P&L experience, including demonstrated ability to manage significant budget
  • Combines strong business and sales acumen with analytic skills and marketing insights to drive growth, offer innovative solutions to problems, and to meet customer-driven business objectives.
  • Deep understanding of marketing sponsorships, broadcast/multi-media, social media environments, media relations and digital, including website and mobile.
  • Advanced knowledge of marketing technology, lead generation/management and sales enablement in a B2B and B2C environment preferred.

Computer or Other Skills:

  • Familiarity with HighSpot Sales Asset Management
  • Marketo, Pardot, Eloqua or other Marketing CRM
  • Working in digital CMS systems
