To help us achieve our goal, we are seeking a Proposal and Contracts Writer eager to make an impact within a mission-driven organization.
POSITION OVERVIEW
The Proposal and Contracts Writer will support the Commercial Team and is responsible for developing proposals and contracts to support a comprehensive range of program, services and project types, supporting the Commercial Team’s portfolio of programs, business development and sales initiatives. The Proposal and Contracts Manager will work cross-functionally to integrate components of proposals, synthesize content and deliver cohesive proposals which align to company branding/positioning and provide a compelling offering to potential customers/sponsors. Customer base will include but not limited to large/mid-sized Pharmaceutical companies, Biotech, and other alliances that align with Science 37 strategic interests.Â
In addition, the Proposal and Contracts Manager will also serve as a lead in managing the preparation, negotiation and finalization of contract templates, process and negotiation parameters. This position will ensure quality, objectivity and risk analysis in the efficient delivery of contract templates, process and negotiation parameters.
The Proposal and Contracts Manager is also responsible for managing and maintaining RFPIO, the proposal development application and repository for all proposal responses, Marketing materials and contract templates.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Duties include but are not limited to:Â
- Maintain the day-to-day proposal, contract and other designated processes to support a comprehensive range of opportunities
- Maintain consistent and up-to-date messaging, services support models and other related key components and content for inclusion in proposals
- Develop and manage overall proposal process and leveraging dynamic, proposal management technology to systematize the process when possible, as well as create compelling custom content to meet customer needs
- Lead the review, negotiation, and finalization of contract templates, process and negotiation parameters with clients in accordance with Science 37 contractual considerations and processes
- Provide oversight and contractual risk assessment in accordance with established contractual considerations and serves as the liaison with the legal departmentÂ
- Ensure proposed products and services are in alignment with company capabilities, services and products
- Orchestrate cross-functional requirements and deliverables to ensure components of proposal are complete and aligned with customer needs.
- Develop and manage proposal specific timelines, including detailed tasks, individual responsibilities and dates/deadlines to ensure deliverables meet commitments
- Plan and lead structured process to introduce new proposals to cross-functional teams, including setting timelines, expectations, while gaining alignment and identifying any issues, risks or resources needs
- Manage prioritization and timing of proposal development in collaboration with the Business Development Lead and Commercial Team
- Escalate anticipated issues to management early, including mitigation strategies
- Work closely with Marketing, Product, Clinical Operations, Commercial Team and other functional and senior leaders to create compelling proposals which lead to revenue growth that meets company goals
- Research, write and edit information for written proposal response, creating customer ready proposals
- Update and maintain standard responses in a proposal content database, RFPIO
- Collaborate closely with subject matter experts (SMEs) to clearly and concisely articulate Science 37’s strengths, differentiation, and value proposition in the context of customer insights and needs
- Conduct interviews with SMEs to translate solution ideas into customer driven terms which aligns with brand promise
- Adheres to proposal writing best practices
- Partners with Marketing and contributes to graphics ideation with author/SME to ensure visual and verbal proposal aspects are impactful and compelling
- Builds upon and expands Science 37’s reputation; becomes a partner of choice through excellence in external and internal stakeholder interactions. Manages how Science 37 is perceived by customers
- Builds an internal culture of innovative thinking that leads to the development and implementation of the company's mission and vision
- Communicates and exhibits leadership behavior consistent with the company-wide keystone focus
- May participate in bid defense and customer meetings and on task forces as required
- Provide advice, support and guidance as needed and serve as mentor to colleagues
- Perform other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS
QualificationsÂ
The following qualifications are preferred and/or equivalent applicable experience:
- BA or BS degree in communications, marketing, operations or other related discipline
- 5+ years’ experience in proposal and contracts development, writing and management.
- 5 + years’ experience in CRO/healthcare related proposal/contracts or technical writing for multimillion- dollar opportunities
- Knowledge of clinical research required
- Technical background and ability to navigate and concisely create health, medical and technical content
- Persuasive writer with the ability to craft solutions-based proposals in support of business development needs
- Demonstrated professional writing, proofreading, and editing skills.
- Superior written and verbal communication skills
- Experience effectively working in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- Strong record of supporting winning proposals/contracts
- Knowledge of and experience with CRM tools/platforms and ability to utilize the CRM tool provided to manage proposals/contracts, preferred
- Demonstrated ability to develop effective selling messages, proposals and contracts

Must have the ability to communicate accurately and clearly, both orally and in writing; pleasant and professional manner. Must be able to interact with all level of management in a professional manner.
- Computer skills - Working knowledge of MS Office suite and Google applications.
- Practices professionalism and integrity in all actions – Demonstrated ability to foster concepts of teamwork, cooperation, self- control, and flexibility to get the work done. The ability to adapt to a rapidly changing work environment. Able to successfully work in a decentralized team environment. Skilled in situational responsive decision-making.

Proven ability to multi-task at a high level and the ability to prioritize and adapt to changing deadlines and needs. Capable of juggling several running projects. Ability to prioritize, including the ability to deliver client-ready materials under strict deadlines.
- Superior organizational skills and accuracy - Keeping track of items, creating and developing sensible strategies and physical solutions for facilitating work flow, cleanliness, and efficiency in the office. Detail-oriented and careful about quality of work.

- Energetic and proactive- Attempt to anticipate a situation and act in advance to either prepare for it or prevent it. Assist other team members to ensure a smooth operation.

REPORTING
The incumbent reports to the Vice President, Strategic Solutions and will need to establish and maintain strong collaborations with internal business partners such as Commercial, Delivery, Product, Legal and Finance teams.
