The Opportunity
As the company continues to grow we are seeking a Strategic Sourcing Manager to work in our facility in Rochester NY. The Strategic Sourcing Manager will be responsible for providing leadership, direction and focus to a network of suppliers providing electro- mechanical suppliers sourcing raw material components for analyzer manufacturing. This individual will have responsibility for supplier controls, commodity strategy, contract negotiations, cost saving productivity initiatives, supplier selection and sourcing projects. The Strategic Sourcing Manager will lead and partner with functional areas to deliver new product launches and strategic business initiatives.
This position can be remote or in Rochester, NY.
The Responsibilities
- Implement and execute strategic sourcing and relationship management strategies for electro-mechanical suppliers sourcing raw material components for analyzer manufacturing suppliers that enable supply continuity to meet their technical and cost objectives while ensuring quality and driving innovation into the business.
- Responsible for supplier selection, serve as lead negotiator for complex, high value transactions including the support of due diligence activities. Lead cross functional business partners to include all aspects of operation and supply chain in contract execution.
- Maintain network of suppliers to ensure they meet the required standards for financial health, quality management, IP protection, and risk management profiles. Drive and execute supplier negotiation strategies that reflect and maximize Ortho's buying power; focusing on supplier quality, total cost, and performance while minimizing risk exposure.
- Fostering relationships with R&D and Business Fields management and product development team leaders to deliver supplier strategies that achieve optimal value, pricing and service performance. Ensure strong supplier relationship development.
- Develop cost saving productivity projects and associated business cases. Lead initiates through development to implementation.
- Ensuring adherence to supplier management/governance standards including assessment, classification, mitigation, controls and adding suppliers to the Approved Supplier List.
- Facilitate supplier change notices or material obsolescence with business partner team.
The Individual
- Bachelor's degree in business or technical discipline required. Background in bio-science strongly preferred. MBA or Master's degree is preferred.
- Minimum of 8-10 years in strategic sourcing/supply chain management of biological, chemical or external manufacturing categories is preferred.
- Experience in Medical Device/Diagnostics or Pharmaceutical industry is required.
- Six Sigma Certified preferred.
- Experience working with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint) is required.
- Required Travel 20% domestic and international
