Strategic Sourcing Manager - Grains
Mars Petcare North America buys a number of hedgeable and non-hedgeable grains to support fast-growing pet nutrition business. This strategic sourcing role is responsible for contracting physical coverage and creating and driving category strategies of vegetable meals (e.g., soybean meal) and other grain products. This role will also work closely with our price risk management team to create, propose, and execute category price coverage strategies
What are we looking for?
- Minimum Bachelors' Degree in Business, Economics, Statistics, Agriculture, or Meteorology
- 3 + years of strategic sourcing, price risk management, inbound operations, or similar experience
- Moderate understanding in price risk management principles, hedging tools, and best practice processes
- An in depth understanding of commodity and agricultural products, including underlying market dynamics, agricultural supply chains, product specifications, and quality challenges associated with agricultural products, including mycotoxin risk
- Demonstrated experience creating and execution a category sourcing strategy
- Demonstrated negotiation skills
- Demonstrated experience working with RFPs, RFQs, and/or E-Auctions
- Strong communication skills including messaging of complex analysis to a broad, diverse, and large stakeholder group including Senior leaders, business units, and buying teams.
What will be your key responsibilities?
- Creating and executing category sourcing strategies that deliver security of supply and cost savings for Mars for the short-, medium-, and long-term time horizons.
- Partner with our price risk management team to create, propose, and execute price coverage strategies for your categories.
- Partner with the R&D and Quality functions to deliver a safe product meeting our to our sites
- Comply with Mars Commercial Guide requirements and other fundamental procurement responsibilities, including category strategies, spend allocations, contracts, etc.
- Willingness to occasionally travel to Mars manufacturing sites, suppliers, and conferences. Travel requirements approximately 10%.
