Job Description

What you’ll be doing

As a Strategy Advisor you will be responsible for identifying and steering Generation’s forward and long-term strategies to achieve our objectives. You’ll facilitate our strategic thinking centre. Through broad collaboration across Meridian, you will assemble a powerful coalition committed to identifying and achieving our strategic objectives.

You’ll support the development and tracking of Generation’s priority strategic objectives and implementation plans, as well as facilitating collaboration amongst a diverse range of people to identify strategic options and business decisions.

Other accountabilities include:

  • Maintaining thorough understanding of Meridian’s strategic priorities, significant business risks, opportunities and operating environment.
  • Conducting & sharing research on industry, market, and external stakeholder risks and opportunities relevant to our strategic objectives and implementation plans
  • Building a valuable network inside and outside of Meridian to support & lead strategy development and implementation.
  • Identifying, assessing, quantifying and prioritising options and opportunities to deliver on strategic objectives.
  • Reporting regularly on the status of Generations strategic initiatives and formulating recommendations to sustain or accelerate progress

Please note, this role can be worked from Wellington, Christchurch, or Twizel.

What you’ll bring

We’re looking for a natural collaborator, with domain knowledge in one or more areas, including engineering, emissions reporting and management, renewable electricity assets and markets, capital intensive investment plans.

You’ll have excellent data collection, research, content management and reporting skills, and well as being skilled at facilitating contribution and consensus amongst a diverse range of subject matter experts and stakeholders.

Other skills and experiences include:

  • Experience with analysing complex data from multiple sources.
  • Strong ability to lead or facilitate innovation or substantive change.
  • Genuine interest in human-centric methodologies for problem solving and associated inclusive processes like Design Thinking or Human Centered Design.
  • Confident presenter and producer of easily digestible and impactful reports and presentations.
  • Exemplary written and oral communications kills and an ability to establish and maintain valuable relationships with a diverse audience.
