Overview

AARP Services, Inc., founded in 1999, is a wholly-owned taxable subsidiary of AARP. AARP Services manages the provider relationships for and performs quality control oversight of the wide range of products and services that carry the AARP name and are made available by independent providers as benefits to AARP's millions of members. The provider offers currently span health products, financial products, travel and leisure products, and life event services. Specific products include Medicare supplemental insurance; credit cards, auto and home, mobile home and motorcycle insurance, life insurance and annuities; member discounts on rental cars, cruises, vacation packages and lodging; special offers on technology and gifts; pharmacy services and legal services. AARP Services also engages in new product development activities for AARP and provides certain consulting services to outside companies.

As the Strategic Planning Advisor for the Lifestyle Products & Services Team at AARP Services, Inc., you will participate in shaping the long-term goals and strategic plans for the team, and often, the organization wide. Your responsibilities will include partnering with management to identify and capitalize on new opportunities for products, services, and innovative approaches aimed at addressing member needs. You will be tasked with gathering and analyzing data from various sources to assess the performance of strategic initiatives against department and organization goals, providing valuable insights and recommendations to leadership. Your expertise will be crucial in guiding strategic discussions, identifying emerging trends, and exploring avenues for growth and optimization. Additionally, you will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams on executing strategic business unit objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Ensures activities align with the organization's goals and objectives.
  • Reviews achievement of performance versus strategic plans. Manages and communicates performance results data with senior management. Advises and recommends strategies based on reviews.
  • Documents plans for assigned business areas. Maintains records of decision-making.
  • Reviews targeted business activities for compliance with internal policies.
  • Performs assessments and identifies risks that are generated by assigned business units' activities and processes.
  • Creates reports on our performance for stakeholders.
  • Organizes the logistics of quarterly reviews.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in management consulting, corporate strategy, financial analysis, or a related field.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities, with the capacity to synthesize complex information, identify insights, and develop actionable recommendations.
  • Effective communication skills including the ability to collaborate cross functionally with a variety of stakeholders and the ability to convey complex concepts to diverse audiences in written reports and oral presentations.
  • Solid analytical skills, with proficiency in quantitative analysis, financial modeling, and data interpretation.
  • Demonstrated project management skills.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and other analytical tools (preferrable data visualization software such as Tableau).
  • Knowledge of strategic planning frameworks, market analysis techniques, business strategy concepts and budget management including P&L review and analysis preferred.

Flexible Work Arrangement (FWA)

AARP observes Mondays and Fridays as telecommuting workdays, except for essential functions. Remote work and telecommuting can only be done within the United States and its territories.
