Strategy and Business Development Lead, E-Mobility

ABB E-mobility is seeking a Strategy and Business Development leader who will drive the evolution of our business model from hardware sale to total solution sale and beyond, support the evolution of our Digital Vision offering (software and services), explore and develop new channels to market, and support our growth objectives in North America.

Your responsibilities
- Drive the evolution of our business model towards a total solution / recurring revenue model (e.g., SaaS, CaaS) including pricing strategy for both direct and channel models. Implement/update supporting pricing change mechanisms. Engage with financial institutions as necessary to partner on developing a platform for Charging-as-a-Service (CaaS) products including customer financing solutions
- Engage with key account, fleet, and OEM customers to gather and internally disseminate customer solution requirements to ensure we are providing a best-in-class digital product portfolio and set of related services delivered directly or via 3rd parties; develop 3rd party digital ecosystem strategy
- Perform competitive market landscaping assessment and create strategic partnering platform to engage with prospective digital product partners. Develop build vs. buy vs. partner-logic, achieve executive buy-in and execute deals
- Evaluate white space GTM opportunities (e.g., with big tech, utilities, other existing or new players) for developing new channels to market. Build partnership opportunity pipeline, execute deals, and manage for growth in support of North America financial targets
- Monitor and assess developments in the North American industry value chain including the emergence of new players to identify disruptive forces and opportunities and position ABB E-mobility to pursue
- Speak at industry events to expose our brand, products, services, and mission throughout the market
Your background
- Bachelor's degree (Finance, Engineering, or technical degree preferred) and 10-15 years of work experience; MBA is preferred
- Work experience in corporate and business development, product management, finance and/or M&A with strong financial modeling skills
- Experience with software and services (i.e., enterprise software or SaaS). Product and market knowledge in EV, automotive, transportation, and logistics space is preferred
- Experience originating, structuring, and negotiating strategic partnerships, investments, and/or acquisitions
- Must have exceptional verbal and written communication skills and ability to drive alignment (buy-in) across a broad set of executive stakeholders on course of strategic action
- Must be a motivated self-starter with ability to engage with customers and prospective partners on strategic level
- Exceptional leadership skills with ability to influence at all levels
- Must have strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills with ability to rethink standard industry practices and work backwards from customer problems and opportunities
- Travel up to 50% of the time in US, Canada, and Europe
- Candidates must already have a work authorization that would permit them to work for ABB in the US
