CRAβs Energy Practice is expanding rapidly, creating opportunities for talented and ambitious individuals to grow their careers in management consulting in the dynamic energy industry. Β We are seeking individuals with experience and interest in helping utility and other industrial clients solve challenging strategic problems. The ideal candidates will be creative problem solvers with 5 to 10 years of experience managing strategy projects with energy, utilities, or other industrial companies
What you will doYou will provide strategic and M&A guidance to our energy clients facing fundamental questions around the strategic direction of their organizations, including developing their vision and strategic options, identifying areas and opportunities for growth and value enhancement, and recommending strategic priorities. Strategy recommendations are usually made based on extensive fact-based research and analysis and after taking external market trends such as sustainability, sector transformation, grid edge development, and other issues into account.
Our clients are typically senior executives of their utilities or other industrial organizations. Our existing client network covers many of the electric and gas utilities in North America and Europe. We also support private equity investors with strategic due diligence, portfolio optimization, and post-merger support.
QualificationsWe are seeking experienced hires from managers to senior advisors. Candidates should have experience in consulting or working directly for energy companies on strategy and M&A matters. Senior advisors will be expected to contribute significantly to client development. Graduate degree in economics, business, finance, operations research, or engineering is strongly preferred. You will also have experience with, or exposure to, the following areas focusing on the energy transition:
- Electrification
- Generation retirement and replacement studies
- Renewables and storage
- Integrated planning
- Distributed energy resources (e.g., EVs, microgrids, demand response)
- IT/OT solutions
- Advanced energy technologies
Excellent written and verbal communication skills required. Must demonstrate a passion for leading and supporting clients through the energy transition. Some travel is expected during normal conditions, primarily in North America.

Work Location Flexibility
CRA creates a work environment that enables our colleagues to benefit from being together in the office to best deliver on our promise of career growth, mentorship and inclusivity. At the same time, we realize that individuals realize a range of benefits when working from home periodically. We currently ask that individuals spend 3 to 4 day a week on average working in the office (which may include traveling to another CRA office or to a client's location), with specific days determined in coordination with your practice or team. At certain times of the year (e.g. holiday periods), additional remote work options are offered to those whose work commitments permit it, although our offices remain open for those who choose or need to be there.

The city of New York requires CRA to include a good-faith estimate of the wage range for this role. This range is specific to individuals applying to work in our New York office and considers a number of factors including but not limited to experience, education level, and expertise. A good-faith estimate of the base wage range for this role is $115,000 - $170,000; actual total compensation may also include benefits and bonus.
