Strategy & Innovation Associate (Atlanta, Detroit, Los Angeles, New York CEO Locations) 

The Opportunity

The Associate is responsible for keeping key Strategy & Innovation programming, including the Emerging Leaders Program (ELP), operating smoothly and effectively. This involves coordinating key business functions and also engaging in projects designed to improve the program. The Associate will also support other Strategy & Innovation  projects involving training development, supportive services, and other initiatives as needed. This includes developing content, facilitating communication & feedback, and managing progress against deadlines. This individual will effectively manage multiple projects at the same time that may intersect several departments, working in close collaboration with project leads and Strategy & Innovation team to coordinate project timeline and priorities.

The Center for Employment Opportunities (CEO) provides employment services to people with recent criminal convictions. Across the United States, over 6,000 people participate in CEO each year, transitioning to employment that supports themselves, their families, and their communities.

What began as a demonstration project of the Vera Institute of Justice in the 1970s to address employment barriers facing the formerly incarcerated following release in New York City has grown into the leading reentry employment organization in the country, where over 25,000 formerly incarcerated individuals have secured full-time employment since 1996. In 2016, CEO embarked on a 5-year strategic plan to grow to serve 9,000 participants annually. 

Who You Are

  • You have 2+ years of program implementation experience (program management experience preferred) in a fast-growing and results-oriented nonprofit environment  
  • You have a working knowledge of the criminal justice and workforce development systems
  • You are experienced in meeting performance based goals and deadlines
  • You have a deep dedication to social justice, criminal and/or economic justice
  • You have exceptional attention to detail and strong task management capabilities; this role includes a very high volume of email, calendar and document management
  • You communicate effectively and recognize the value of continuous communication
  • You are proficient in group facilitation skills with the ability to keep groups engaged while also imparting content/knowledge. Able to accomplish these goals on zoom or other video conferencing platforms.
  • You have excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills; ability to collaborate, liaise, and negotiate with multiple constituencies and departments
  • You are comfortable with technology, including Google Suite and Salesforce
  • You have a high level of personal integrity and commitment to excellence and deep impact

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

These responsibilities are representative, but not all-inclusive, of the responsibilities of this role:

  • Coordinate and provide support on key projects & activities, with a focus on the operation of the Emerging Leaders program
  • Work in partnership with team to improve processes & activities to best support program implementation
  • Collaborate with Program Support departments, Program Delivery staff, and other CEO departments
  • Gather feedback from participants and staff to inform effective program delivery
  • Ensure data is inputted with fidelity and support reviews and report outs of key data

Team Support

  • Coordinate logistical aspects of the recruitment and onboarding of ELP members and the execution of Development Day trainings; this may include gathering paperwork, scheduling guest speakers, generating training content, recruiting and preparing mock interviewers, and more
  • Serve as an active and proactive contributor and collaborator of the larger Program Support team; in particular, collaborate with Program Support teams that lead Advanced Training Initiatives plan meetings or retreats, etc.
  • Ensure that information on related Google Sites and information platforms is up to date and user-friendly
  • Facilitate and lead team meetings as needed
  • Additional responsibilities as assigned

Compensation and Benefits  

The salary range for this position is  $47,500 to 56,500 annually CEO's compensation philosophy considers a variety of factors including experience, internal equity, and the labor market associated with the city in which the position is located. This position can be located in any of the cities in which CEO operates. The labor markets associated with the cities in which CEO is based are variable, and the salary range included here reflects this. Our salary offer will fall within this range and will be reflective of the labor market of the city in which the position is based, as well the other factors named above.
