Primary Responsibilities
In the role of Structural Engineer, we'll count on you to:
- Mentor younger staff on contract document development, performing calculations, and code interpretations.
- Review structural documents for areas of conflict with all disciplines and coordinate with other disciplines on resolutions.
- Develop drawings, write and edit structural specifications, select procedures, materials and their respective sizes, interpret code provisions, and complete necessary calculations
- Independently coordinate with the Project Manager and other disciplines the work of the structural design team through the design development and contract document phases of a project. Communicate effectively any changes to the structural design team.
- Establish meetings and participate in reviews with various governing agencies for projects.
- Work on proposals, basis of design documents, participate in planning meetings, and assist with workload projections for the structural team.
- Take responsibility for coordinating workload with the team through design development and construction document phases to complete the project requirements on schedule
- Participate in quality control reviews and collaboratively resolve issues.
- Coordinate and assist with affected disciplines, with any addendum, requests for information, change proposal requests, shop drawings, and change orders, and incorporate agreed-upon changes into the project documents
- Perform other duties as needed
Required Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering, or bachelor's degree in Architectural Engineering with Structural emphasis
• 5 years structural engineering experience geared toward buildings and building type structures, earth retaining structures, or tanks.
• PE
• Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, Bluebeam, REVIT, STAAD, RAM, ETABS, SAFE or similar analytical software
• Previous experience with an architectural/engineering or engineering consulting firm
• An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must
Preferred Qualifications
• Master's degree in Civil/Structural Engineering or Master's degree in Architectural Engineering; Structural emphasis
• SE
• Preference given to local candidates
