What You Will Do:
The Structural Engineer will support the facilities design, construction, and renovation projects by providing their professional expertise. The responsibilities of the Structural Engineer are as follows, to include but not limited to:
- Coordinate with project managers and other personnel/contractors, and other project team members on projects as necessary
- Assist in the development of reports and studies with a focus on vibration analysis
- Collaborate and assist in resolving critical issues with multidisciplined team of architects, engineers, and federal agency clients
- Understand and be able to implement standards as outlined in the Program of Requirements (POR). Suggest edits and updates to the POR, as applicable
- Manage design of projects throughout the project, from programming to post-occupancy
- Review proposal documents for accuracy and ability to meet standards. Provide comment and/or recommendations as necessary
- Perform design reviews and submit comments in required format
- Review architectural, electrical, and mechanical floor plans
- Prepares documentation such as the scope of work, technical reviews, and miscellaneous reports
- Ability to act as Subject Matter Expert (SME) with respect to structural engineering at design meetings and on-site construction meetings
- Attend site surveys and make on-the-spot recommendations
- Provide on-site field survey measurements and verification
What You Will Need:
- Ability to obtain Top Secret clearance.
- Bachelor's degree in Structural Engineering from ABET accredited school or Bachelor of Science in Construction (BSC) degree from an accredited (American Council for Construction Education or ABET) engineering school.
- A minimum of fifteen (15) years of experience in commercial/government office building design and construction
- Registration as a Professional Engineer.
- Knowledge of building codes related to building foundation and superstructure infrastructure.
- Relevant experience in structural engineering aspects of design and construction phases.
What Would Be Nice To Have:
- Active Secret clearance or Top Secret clearance.
- Ability to understand and evaluate performance of vibration monitoring contractors.
