Position Introduction/Key Duties

Cimarron is seeking senior-level Structural Engineers to serve as mechanical/structural design experts for the Engineering and Manufacturing Development (EMD) phase of the Sentinel (formally GBSD) program. Cimarron provides engineering and technical support to Bechtel for the design, construction, and integration of the Sentinel launch systems at locations to include Vandenberg AFB, CA, F.E. Warren AFB, WY, Malmstrom AFB, MT, and Minot AFB, ND. Sentinel is a vital US Air Force program that will recapitalize the nation's aging ground based leg of the nuclear triad -- the Minuteman III Intercontinental Ballistic Missile (ICBM). This is an onsite position.

Key Duties:

  • Perform engineering design and dynamic modeling/simulation analysis for subterranean launch facilities/centers and buildings associated with this USAF project.
  • Execute designs with minimal direction or oversight, aligned to general concepts and requirements.
  • Coordinate and integrate design work between the disciplines.
  • Originate/check structural steel drawings, perform calculations, and develop specifications.
  • Originate/check structural concrete forming and reinforcing design drawings.
  • Participate in design/model reviews.
  • Review vendor information from subcontractors and integrate it into design solutions.
  • Participate in constructability reviews.
  • Develop design configuration packages for configuration control, change management, and procurement.
  • Develop procurement documents including material requisitions.

Required/Desired Skills, Experience, and Education

Required Skills, Experience, and Education:

  • Due to facility security requirements, only U.S. citizens are eligible for consideration at this time.
  • Ability to obtain a Secret clearance.
  • Experience with FEA in the structural engineering discipline.
  • In-depth experience Abaqus experience as a "super user".
  • Experience with stress and structural analysis.
  • Experience with drawings and designs for architectural, mechanical, electrical, or structural systems and equipment for industrial process facilities, data centers, central utility plants, or complex building systems.
  • Experience coordinating a multi-disciplined design team.
  • Proficient with Revit to originate 3D model content and produce design deliverables in a multidisciplinary model.
  • Experience producing a full, well-coordinated, and detailed set of architectural construction documents.
  • Advanced design experience in at least one discipline (electrical, structural, mechanical, or architectural) shown through familiarity with relevant codes, standards, practices, and procedures.

  • Associate of Arts or Science and 11 or more years of related experience, or Bachelor of Science and 9 or more years of related experience.

Desired Skills, Experience, and Education:

  • Active Secret clearance.
  • Experience working with procedures meeting quality assurance programs such as ISO-9000.
  • Experience with nuclear hardness and survivability.
  • Prior experience working with government agencies, preferably the Department of Defense.
  • Design experience with Unified Facilities Criteria and the Whole Building Design Guide.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications and Sketchup.
  • Knowledge of the Adobe Creative Suite, including Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign.
