Structural Engineer

We are looking for a handful of talented broadly-skilled engineers to help us prototype an exciting new initiative.

Role & responsibilities:

• Devising novel approaches to technical problems.
• Design and analyze mechanical systems, such as HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection, while considering their impact on structures.
• Perform structural analysis and design of structures, ensuring they can accommodate mechanical systems.
• Understanding and coordinating with different engineering disciplines on the projec
• Assist in the preparation of engineering drawings, specifications, and cost estimates, incorporating insights gained from hands-on experience.

Key qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or Industrial Engineering.
• Solid knowledge of building codes, regulations, and industry standards related to mechanical, civil, and industrial design.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to find practical solutions and adapt engineering concepts to real-world scenarios.
• Knowledge of common building materials and practices.

Preferred qualifications: 

• Mechanical simulation and calculation experience (ie FEA)
• Experience with design and analysis of weldments. 
• Prior hands-on experience welding using any process. 
• Willingness to work on-site and perform hands-on tasks as required.
• Rapid prototyping experience.
• Prior experience in modular construction.
• PE licence a plus but not required.

Salary/Pay Range:

For individuals hired to work in California, Science is required by law to include a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role.  We determine your level based on your interview performance and make an offer based on geo-located salary bands. The base salary range for this full-time position is $100,000-$170,000 + equity + benefits. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Please keep in mind that the equity portion of the offer is not included in these numbers.
