General Position Description

This is an entry level position. It is suitable for candidates with 0- 5 years of engineering work experience, and little or no related fenestration experience.

The Structural Engineer determines the suitability of architectural aluminum products used in commercial applications. The Structural Engineer plans and conducts independent work requiring judgment in the evaluation, selection, application and adaptation of engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria. The Engineer will devise new approaches to problems; prepare or modify drawings, specifications, calculations, charts, and graphs; and monitor work for compliance to applicable codes, and accepted engineering practices at Tubelite.

Principle Duties and Accountabilities:

• Provides technical support to external clients, architects, and vendors as well as internal clients (estimating, order entry, manufacturing, marketing, sales, and purchasing).
• Reviews projects for proper application and engineering of Tubelite systems and products to meet or exceed performance requirements as outlined in published specifications for the project.
• Addresses client questions and concerns regarding system application, design, fabrication, and installation.
• Creates job specific detail drawings for clients and architects.
• Identifies needs and drives activities in product and application research, analysis, validation, and testing.
• Builds samples as needed to check for potential problems and test solutions.
• Provides written reports documenting recommendations and summarizing results of analysis and testing.

Requirements:

• Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering (BSME), Civil Engineering (BSCE) or other applicable engineering degree with similar equivalent work experience.
• Strong analytic and problem-solving skills.
• Creative thinker.
• Self-motivated, self-starter.
• Proficient using 2D and 3D CAD design and analysis software.
• Ability to read and interpret architectural drawings and specifications.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Proficient in the use of Microsoft software (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
• Proficient using small hand tools and small precision measuring instruments.

Requirements, Preferred

• Experience with AutoCAD, Mechanical Desktop, Inventor and C-Beam or other structural software.
• Familiar with Architectural /Construction trades.
• Knowledge of national building codes and appropriate application.
• Computer programming experience.
