Structural Project Manager

Brandow & Johnston currently has an opening for a Project Manager for our Los Angeles, CA office structural engineering department. Project types include design of new buildings, seismic evaluation, and retrofit of existing buildings and tenant improvement projects.

Responsibilities:

• Oversees design and construction for complex projects.
• Direct the flow of work to Project Engineers, Design Engineers and Drafters for projects.
• Provide engineering quality assurance.
• Participate in construction administration, site observations.
• Write technical reports and construction observation reports.
• Demonstrated technical skills.
• Oversee CAD drafters for production of construction documents.
• Under the guidance of a principal, direct accounting on jobs to bill, review accounting reports
• Under the guidance of a principal, write proposals, and negotiate fees
• Meet with and develop lasting relationships with Architects, Contractors, Owners and Clients.
• Plan, organize and execute engineering projects on time and on budget with good service.
• Represent Brandow & Johnston at industry events.
• Mentor younger engineers to develop the talent within the company

Qualifications:

• Bachelor of Science Degree in structural engineering.
• Master of Science Degree in Structural Engineering preferred.
• Five years of professional work experience
• Professional engineering license in the State of California to practice Structural Engineering
• Intimate knowledge of general engineering principles, statics, dynamics of structures and general engineering design
• Ability to perform complex engineering tasks with general supervision
• Ability to read and produce or structural drawings
• Ability to review and edit structural specifications
• Strong technical and communication (verbal and written) skills.
