Job Description

What We're Looking For:
The Student Engagement Specialist works with a population of pre-start students who are identified as higher risk students based on pre-start questionnaires. Within this role, individuals engage students with prescribed resources available throughout the pre-start process. They are also adept in coaching and mentoring students, in preparation for the launch of their respective programs. Reports directly to the Director of Student Onboarding & Retention and collaborates with local and regional counterparts, including Student Success Managers, Program Support Managers and Regional Directors on the Field Operations Team.
Key Role and Responsibilities:
  1. Works with a population of pre-start students who are identified as higher risk students based on pre-start questionnaires. 60%
  2. Consistently engages students with available resources throughout the pre-start process. 20%
  3. Provides one on one coaching sessions in preparation for prescribed resources, such as weekly tutoring, computer literacy, motivation, study skills, and/or financial literacy. 10%
  4. Works collaboratively with the Workshop Leader, and Pre-start tutoring team to ensure the prescribed resources provided to our students are effective in delivery and content. 5%
  5. Aligns with the Student Engagement Systems Administrator to ensure all onboarding systems are created for each student during the pre-start process. 5%

Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree required
  • 2+ years of professional experience directly related to academic coaching in an online environment
  • Creative thinker who can effectively listen and problem solve
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Proficiency with platforms such as Zoom, Salesforce, Slack and Canvas
  • Proven ability to work in a fast-paced, high-volume, deadline-driven environment.
  • Proactive, adaptable, flexible, and able to pivot when the business priorities shift.

In Colorado, the anticipated base salary for this role is $45,000.00 with potential bonus and equity eligibility. Note: The final compensation for this position may consider factors including the geographic location where the work is performed (candidate's assigned office) and prior work experience of the candidate.
