JOB DESCRIPTION

¬ Lead and coordinate the design theme feasibility progression and resolution from FC0 to FAA with completion of all feasibility checkpoint deliveries (e.g., FC Rollup, DDCL...) in required program timing.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Key Roles & Responsibilities

  • ¬ Lead and coordinate the design theme feasibility progression and resolution from FC0 to FAA with completion of all feasibility checkpoint deliveries (e.g., FC Rollup, DDCL...) in required program timing.
  • ¬ Lead Pre-K1 engineering activities in support concept development. (e.g., Benchmark, hardpoints, products overlay, new technology deployment...).
  • ¬ Lead the co-creation with engineering & manufacturing to converge program, attribute, & functional inputs into the Class A Design surface by blending them into highly integrated 3D CAD concepts that deliver a feasible styling theme meeting Design intent.
  • ¬ Develop and maintain CAD based zone Layouts for studio design feasibility (e.g., Scaffold files, master sections...) with integration of functional feasibility and design requirements in support of the design and design feasibility progression.
  • ¬ Lead design feasibility meetings for each vehicle zone in support of the design progression.
  • ¬ Utilize their strong design acuity and innovation mindset to define and propose in CAD new and innovative solutions necessary to conceptualize and the aesthetic vision.
  • ¬ Provide engineering alternatives in support of escalation that enable design Leadership through the integration and balancing of attribute tradeoffs.
  • ¬ Maintain status of design properties for management reviews and ensure conformance to hardpoints and feasibility constraints (e.g., hardpoints plan, ride heights...).
  • ¬ Summarize and report on the feasibility status concisely to the point.

QUALIFICATIONS

Qualifications

  • ¬ Bachelor's degree in industrial design, transportation design, mechanical engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
  • ¬ Demonstrated experience in design studio procedures and progression, and ability to provide a creative and engineering focus to enable creative vehicle-level solutions & alternatives in support of Design.
  • ¬ Strong capability of creating engineering proposals in CATIA.
  • ¬ 5+ years' experience in engineering with 3+ years' experience in studio engineering.
  • ¬ Familiarity with vehicle exterior and interior packaging, ergonomic, regulation, vehicle attributes (e.g., Aero, TASE, safety...), body and trim design and development, production process and latest automotive trends.
  • ¬ Hands on experience in narrowing product scope and facilitating decisions on complex product, including leading and presenting to decision making forums.
  • ¬ Big picture mindset and passion for engineering of innovative.
  • ¬ Fluent in English for presentation and communication.
  • ¬ Specialized in vehicle exterior closure (door system) or seats is a plus.
