Subrogation Specialist
Job Description
CorVel is seeking a full time Claims Specialist to work with our subrogation team. The Claims Specialist manage within company standards and best practices Workers Compensation claims with subrogation potential. Identify subrogation potential, send lien letters, address request for consent to settle, calculate lien reimbursements, work closely with claims specialist, supervisors, and attorneys; manage subrogation and negotiate settlements to ensure specific customer requirements to achieve the best possible outcome in the claim. Experience in workers comp subrogation or auto damage subrogation preferred.
This role will be reporting to our Syracuse, NY office and will have the option to work from home or in the office. Work arrangement will be determined upon hire.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Receives claim, reviews subrogation potential, sends out lien letters
- Maintains diary to follow up on third party actions, and obtain lien reimbursements
- Determine if and what case law applies to a particular case, calculates equable share of attorney fees
- Understand MVA first party benefits and reimbursable items
- Negotiates settlements of claims and liens
- Actively manage the subrogation process
- Identifies potential subrogation claims and places at fault parties on notice of potential claims.
- Communicate claim status with customer and claimant
- Adhere to client guidelines & participate in claim reviews as needed
- Develops & maintains professional customer relationships
KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- PC literate, including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel)
- Effective analytical and interpretive skills
- Strong organizational skills
- Good interpersonal skills
- Ability to work in a team environment
- Ability to work independently
- Knowledge of the entire claims administration, subrogation, and Workers Compensation investigation procedures.
- Knowledge of third party collections
- Research, analyze, and interpret nationwide subrogation laws
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
- Four year degree at an accredited college or university preferred
- Excellent oral, written communication skills & customer service
- PC literate, including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel)
- Effective analytical & interpretive skills
- Strong organizational skills
- Great interpersonal skills
- Ability to work in a team environment
- Ability to work independently
PAY RANGE:
CorVel uses a market based approach to pay and our salary ranges may vary depending on your location. Pay rates are established taking into account the following factors: federal, state, and local minimum wage requirements, the geographic location differential, job-related skills, experience, qualifications, internal employee equity, and market conditions. Our ranges may be modified at any time.
For leveled roles (I, II, III, Senior, Lead, etc.) new hires may be slotted into a different level, either up or down, based on assessment during interview process taking into consideration experience, qualifications, and overall fit for the role. The level may impact the salary range and these adjustments would be clarified during the offer process.
Pay Range: $58,282 - $93,870
