HDR is looking for a Substation S&E Engineer to join our growing and nationally ranked team of Power Delivery professionals in either Charlotte or Raleigh, NC. The primary duties of the Substation S&E Engineer will include taking responsibility for knowledge and execution of technical aspects and deliverables of projects assigned. They must be an experienced, competent engineer that generally understands and can complete all technical requirements of projects from basic to moderate complexity. Specific duties will include:
- Scope and/or proposal development, project execution, project closeout, quality control, schedule, and budget management
- Assigning project tasks and providing technical guidance to junior team members
- Coordinating QC reviews for work performed by junior level engineers and/or designers
- Working with senior engineers and technical leaders to identify and develop specific technical expertise
- Attending training seminars focused on further development and understanding of complex concepts related to their discipline
- Possibly assisting with the development of technical papers and/or presentations that showcase HDR's technical capabilities at industry conferences or other events
- Taking responsibility for quality control reviews of projects from other teams on an as needed basis
- Working independently and possibly directing, mentoring, training, and/or supervising efforts of less experienced EIT's or Designers

Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering required
- PE required
- Minimum of 5 years of substation physical design experience required; this must include both indoor and outdoor experience with an emphasis on indoor experience
- Proficient with Microsoft Office
- Strong written and verbal communication skills required
- An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must
- Some travel may be required
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience using industry design software preferred
- Previous consulting firm experience desired
- Local candidates are preferred
