Summer 2023: Intern, UX Design
Job Description
Our mission is to help heal healthcare and we are in a unique position to do so. As a UX Design Intern, you will work directly with our design team to help many of the nation's leading hospitals to make better decisions with their financial, operational, and clinical data so they can care for their communities while reducing the cost of care. Our internship program is a full-time, paid, 10-week program during the Summer of 2023. Applicants should be based in or able to relocate to Chicago for the duration of the program to participate in our hybrid work environment at our Chicago headquarters. Applicants should also be currently pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree with a graduation date in Winter 2023 or Spring 2024.To thrive in this role, you must:

- Love design in all its forms: user research, sketching and ideating, information architecture, interaction design, visual design, and everything in between
- Love learning new and complex subject matter
- Be a problem-understander first and problem-solver second
- Be able to manage your own time and projects
- Enjoy switching between solo and group work time
- Constantly learn from those around you
- Ask questions, identify assumptions, discuss new ideas, and stay open to opposing viewpoints
- Work on meaningful projects and present your work to our CEO and leadership team
- Participate in design workshops, critiques, and presentations
- Create design artifacts such as mid- and high-fidelity comps
- Collaborate with product managers, developers, and other designers
- Receive mentorship from other designers
- Get to know your Strata teammates through one-on-one coffee chats, social activities, and volunteer activities
- Have entire Slack conversations with other designers using nothing but custom emojis
- Currently pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree in design, human-computer interaction, or another related field
- A portfolio demonstrating an understanding of the human-centered design process, along with visual hierarchy, core design principles, interaction design, and attention to detail
- Experience using Figma, Sketch, or similar tools
- Strong self-motivation and the ability to work effectively with limited guidance when necessary
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with a desire to collaborate
