Summer 2023 Internship - Data Science

The Designer Brands 2023 Summer Internship Program is an elite group of university students who will be part of a robust, 10-week program with the opportunity to work, learn and immerse themselves in the day-to-day operations of their function. The program will consist of hands-on experience, skill-building, cross-functional collaboration, and networking to support professional development.

The Data Science Intern will work within a team that provides business analysis across Marketing, finance, digital, MP&A and Merchandising functions. The intern will support performing predictive analytics and statistical analysis to drive innovation and optimize business decision making, receiving guidance and mentorship. The internship provides on-the-job training, cross-functional departmental exposure, and opportunity to present findings to business leaders.

REQUIREMENTS• Ability to analyze large data, develop hypotheses, and make insightful recommendations • Ability to package complex analyses and effectively communicate results to non-technical audience • Familiarity with statistical concepts such as Regression, Classification, and Time Series Analysis • Familiarity with programming and database languages such as R/Python, and SQL• Knowledge of statistical techniques and ML algorithms such as regression, boosted tree, SVM, clustering and neural network• Ability to create visualizations, summaries, and present complex analytical techniques, data, and recommendations• Experience working with Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint• Self-starter who is passionate about data science and machine learning• High degree of intellectual curiosity and desire to learn new techniques • Must be able to work 40 hours/week for the duration of the program (June-August)• Must be currently enrolled in an undergraduate (rising Juniors and Seniors) or graduate program
