Summer 2023 Internship - IT Platform Reliability Engineering (Remote)

The Designer Brands 2023 Summer Internship Program is an elite group of university students who will be part of a robust, 10-week program with the opportunity to work, learn and immerse themselves in the day-to-day operations of their function. The program will consist of hands-on experience, skill-building, cross-functional collaboration, and networking to support professional development.

Requirements:

• Must be able to work 40 hours/week for the duration of the program (June-August)
• Must be currently enrolled in an undergraduate (rising Juniors and Seniors) or graduate program

Our Platform & Reliability Engineering team has an internship opportunity available for Summer 2023. At the end of the program, the interns will have a better understanding of the IT function within Designer Brands.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Leverage a combination of DevOps tools and languages to create and maintain automated pipelines for application deployment and Infrastructure provisioning (CI/CD)
• Learn about maintaining Kubernetes and it's core components
• Assist with instrumenting observability tools in our application stacks and learn to use those tools to assist with troubleshooting
• Leverage runbooks to complete operational tasks and identify areas for further automation
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

• Exploration with tools like Git/Github, Terraform, Ansible, Artifactory, Jenkins, and Similar DevOps Tools
• Past experience (even if school project) with basic scripting/coding in languages such as Bash, Python, GoLang, Perl, NodeJS
• Familiarity/Exploration with Kubernetes, Docker, or other Linux Container Tools
• Familiarity with network technologies like Firewalls, Virtual networks, Load Balancers
• Innate interest in "the cloud" and its underlying technologies, architectural options, and the competitive landscape - This Could include AWS, Google GCP, or Microsoft Azure
• Knowledge of Retail Industry
• Strong communication, organization, and analytical skills
• Strong attention to detail
• Collaborate with team members on new projects and ideas
• Possess ability to communicate clearly with project team
• Report status against the project plan
• Other duties as assigned
