We are seeking a summer Accounting Intern to join the Brookfield Properties U.S. Office Division in Washington, DC. We are seeking a highly motivated individual to join us this summer as a Junior Accountant in Finance & Accounting. Our intern program lasts 8 -10 weeks and includes many exciting training and development opportunities.

Role & Responsibilities:

  • Assist with Property Accounting monthly close including preparation of journal entries and account reconciliations.
  • Support Regional FP&A team with preparation and analysis of monthly and quarterly forecasting deliverables.
  • Assist with the Annual Budget process including modeling revenues, reviewing expenses, reconciling Cash Flows, and preparing deliverables.
  • Interact with various teams throughout the region including Property Management, Lease Administration, Asset Management and Construction.
  • Accurately track and report on hours worked on assignments.
  • Perform ad-hoc projects and financial analysis for management as required.

Your Qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled in a post-secondary institution (rising 3rd or 4th year, preferably having completed courses in areas such as business, economics, accounting, finance, information systems, or computer science), working towards a degree in a related field
  • Must be available to work onsite throughout the duration of the internship and able to work well in a team environment.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, work well under pressure and be self-motivated with a positive attitude.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and attention to detail
  • Working knowledge of MS Office including MS PowerPoint, Excel, Word, and Outlook

Salary Type: Exempt/Non-exempt
