Boundless Bio (BBI) is a San Diego-based, next generation precision oncology company employing an exciting new area of cancer biology, extrachromosomal DNA (“ecDNA”), to revolutionize the way cancer is treated. We are seeking a motivated intern to support our drug discovery efforts and play a significant role in helping us transform exciting ecDNA discoveries into the next generation of cancer medicines.

As an intern at BBI you will have an opportunity to: 

• Be part of a scientific team that support multiple programs under the direction of a Scientist or Senior Research Associate
• Gain basic understanding of the drug discovery process, from screening to hit-to-lead identification
• Build a network of colleagues that will grow throughout your time with us and beyond
• Learn laboratory techniques applicable to multiple research disciplines
• Experience working in a fast-paced biotech company
• Participate in BBI meetings, seminars, and presentations, as well as social events and community volunteer projects

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Perform routine cell culture maintenance, expansion, and banking of cancer cell lines
• Perform biochemical and cellular assays to test potency of anti-cancer drugs
• Perform experiments utilizing different automated liquid-handling systems
• Perform specific techniques such as DSF, ELISA and immunofluorescence assays
• Support structure-interference-relationship (SIR) assays (PAINS assays)
• Collect and analyze experimental results

Qualifications:

• Currently enrolled in a Bachelor of Science (or Arts) program focused on Biological Sciences or related discipline
• Must have good practical skills in a laboratory setting, such as keeping an organized laboratory and maintaining a clean working area
• Receptive and eager to learn new skills
• Must be able to follow detailed protocols, and have good record-keeping
• Ability to interpret data and present in written format to supervisors
• Ability to learn new experimental methods and conduct research
• Meticulous attention to detail
• Strong organization and communication skills
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools, including Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience working in a controlled laboratory environment
• Experience with common biochemical/molecular biology techniques and mammalian cell culture
• Experience working with PRISM and Dotmatics (or other electronic lab notebook software)

This is a paid, onsite intern role starting summer break, for either 20 hours/week or 40 hours/week until fall semester starts. You must currently reside in the San Diego area and be authorized to work for any employer in the US as we do not provide relocation assistance or sponsorship for Intern roles. The anticipated pay range for this position is $20-25 per hour. The final salary offered to a successful candidate will be dependent on several factors that may include but are not limited to years of education, previous relevant experience, etc.
