Your role in helping us shape the future:
The Supervisor, Facility Services is responsible for overseeing and directing operations at properties including office spaces and office buildings which may include support at teleport locations. The primary duty of this position is to oversee the administrative and facility services functions at Intelsat's McLean, VA property. This individual is responsible for leading duties pertaining to service contract and vendor management; preventative maintenance programs, budgeting, space planning; and other support services. This role manages two employee positions in McLean. The Supervisor will typically manage the day-to-day needs, including maintenance requests, custodial tasks, event management, budget preparation and audits all while interacting with staff to reduce business interruptions. This is a role that requires a high level of organization and the ability to successfully resolve customer service questions and provide unprecedent attention to details.
Are you up to the challenge?
  • Manages service contracts including janitorial, floor and carpet cleaning, data/server room cleaning, onsite vending, and coffee services.
  • Develops Statements of Work and Standards of Procedure as needed.
  • Assists with updates to departmental intranet website and ensures content is updated regularly.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for all facility issues and is part of the Emergency Response Team and participates on the Safety Management Team.
  • Interface with all levels of personnel including landlords, and leaders within the company.
  • Direct maintenance activities involving facilities support equipment.
  • Report financial Information and help prepare annual budget requests.
  • Oversees event coordination and assists with furniture set up as needed.
  • Responsible for developing statements of work for vendor contract services, reviewing contractor proposals, drawings, purchase requisitions and purchasing parts and materials when necessary.
  • Develop, update, and maintain standard operating procedures for facility operations and maintenance.
  • Oversee Personnel Management, performs performance appraisals and mentor's staff.
  • Work independently with little to no guidance and coordinates on property management strategy.
  • Responds to out of hours emergencies.
  • Assists with scheduling of adds, moves, and changes within our space management software system and ensures all databases are kept up to date.
  • Provide project management services during construction activities. Maintain and administer building project documentation, change orders, budgets, and schedules. Ensure contractor and vendor adherence to the provisions agreed upon under the contract.
  • Conduct audits and inspections necessary to maintain building operations.
  • Review and comment on up-and-coming lease negotiations in coordination with Sr. Level Managers.
  • Provide leadership, coaching and direction to a team of direct reports.

You should definitely have:
  • Minimum of seven (7) years of experience in facility operations and maintenance preferably in a mission critical environment.
  • Ability to effectively manage and respond to emergency situations, and if required on-site response.
  • Strong working knowledge to effectively interpret blueprint drawings, schematics, layouts, wiring diagrams, specifications, operating manuals, instructions, standard operating procedures and government or jurisdictional guidelines and regulations.
  • Working knowledge of ADA, NEC, ASHRAE, EPA, NFPA, OSHA plus LEED certifications.
  • The ability to work independently and under time sensitive deadlines.
  • Demonstrate working knowledge of MS office using Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Experience using lease portfolio databases.
  • Demonstrate Project Management Experience.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills.
  • Ability to provide efficient, timely, reliable, and courteous service to customers.
  • Ability to effectively present information.
  • Ability to respond effectively to sensitive issues.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • This role is subject to ITAR/EAR; candidates must be a US Person (this includes US Citizen, Permanent Resident or Protected Individual such as an asylee or refugee)

It would be nice if you had:
  • Project Management Professional Certification.
  • Experience in management of staff
  • Has demonstrated experience with large event management.
  • Has had an active lead role in oversite of property management activities such as food preparation, adds moves and changes and construction related activities.
  • AutoCAD, Revit, and VISO hands on experience
