This position will be filled through use of TSA's Direct Hire Authority pursuant to TSA MD 1100.30-26. Under the Direct-Hire Authority, category grouping and Veterans' Preference does not apply.

- Employee must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret security clearance based on a Special Background Investigation (SBI) with eligibility for Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI).
- This is a testing Designated position required under "TSA Special Use".
- This is a supervisory position subject to the supervisory probationary period, unless the selected incumbent has already completed it.

Qualifications
- Expert knowledge and extensive experience in data management, data analysis, database management technologies, data mining, storage, and warehousing methods. Demonstrated ability to develop and implement new data management schemas, plan and coordinate the development of data structures and access strategies, identify system requirements, and validate data sources to align with business and mission requirements.
- Mastery of computer science principles, concepts, and practices, coupled with in-depth knowledge of related disciplines such as information technology, data modeling, machine learning, artificial intelligence, statistics, and higher mathematics. Proven ability to plan and conduct research, develop new concepts, approaches, tools, and techniques that expand knowledge of data science and informatics, and provide expert advice and consultation.
- Expert knowledge and technical skills in managing emerging technologies, new IT development processes, and solutions, as well as identifying opportunities to improve agency programs and IT activities. Extensive experience in applying forward-thinking design and development principles, leveraging data visualization and communication techniques, and practicing human-centered design throughout the project lifecycle.
National Service Experience (i.e., volunteer experience): Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
The Office of Personnel Management (OPM) must authorize employment offers made to current or former political appointees. If you are currently, or have been within the last 5 years, a political Schedule A, Schedule C, Non-career SES or Presidential Appointee employee in the Executive Branch, you must disclose this information to the Human Resources Office.

Education
In addition to the minimum qualifications described above, you must meet the following requirement(s) below (A or B) to be considered qualified for the position:
Basic Requirements:
A. Degree: Successful completion of a full 4-year course of study in an accredited college or university leading to a bachelor's or higher degree that included a major field of study or specific course requirements in mathematics, statistics, computer science, data science or field directly related to the position. The degree must be in a major field of study (at least at the baccalaureate level) that is appropriate for the position.
OR
B. Combination of education and experience: Courses equivalent to a major field of study (30 semester hours) as shown in paragraph A above, plus additional education or appropriate experience. The quality of the combination of education and experience must be sufficient to demonstrate that the applicant possesses the knowledge, skills, and abilities required to perform work in the occupation, and is comparable to that normally acquired through the successful completion of a full 4-year course of study with a major in the appropriate field.

Employees who transfer to TSA from an agency that allows employees to maintain an annual leave balance higher than the maximum accumulation for the appointed position will have their leave ceiling set to the maximum accumulation for the appointed position (e.g., United States duty location - 240 hours, foreign duty location - 360 hours, or TSES position - 720 hours). TSA will not make a monetary payment for any leave forfeited under these circumstances.
