Summary
THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION.
This National Guard position is for a SUPERVISORY ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION SPECIALIST (T32), Position Description Number D0964000 and is part of the AL CFMO JFHQ, National Guard.

- This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the employing state's National Guard, required prior to the effective date of placement.
- Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform.
- May be required to successfully complete a probationary period.

- May occasionally be required to work other than normal duty hours; overtime may be required.
- Applicants who are not currently a member of the National Guard must be eligible for immediate membership and employment in the National Guard in the military grade listed in this announcement.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: Each applicant must fully substantiate (in his/her own words) that he/she meets the requirements of the Specialized Experience listed below: Otherwise, the applicant will be considered unqualified for this position. GENERAL EXPERIENCE: This position is located in the Environmental Management Branch of the State Army National Guard (ARNG) Headquarters. Serves as the State ARNG Environmental Program Manager with responsibility for supervising and managing the state environmental program in conformance with Federal, state, and local rules and regulations. Serves as the focal point and technical expert to the Adjutant General; and provides advisory services to all units within the state regarding National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), Installation Restoration Program (IRP), Air Quality, Water Quality, Hazardous Waste Management and various other environmental programs. Ensures that applicable Federal, state, and local environmental standards, regulations and laws are maintained. Assures compliance with policies, regulations, and Federal, state, and local statutes. Supervises technician and/or state personnel engaged in a variety of work directly related to the state environmental program.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Must possess at least 12 months specialized experience to at least the next lower grade that provided experience, education or training demonstrating the knowledge of the principles, practices, and concepts of an environmental program sufficient to serve as the expert technical advisor on the various environmental programs. Experience demonstrating knowledge of environmental issues, problems and solutions regarding federal, state, rural and community environmental regulations. Experience in program planning or administration concerned with environmental protection or other activities related to environmental problems. Experience in an advisory or research capacity involving the creation of solutions to problems concerning environmental protection or other related activities. Experience using on-site investigation techniques, analysis of results and development of conclusions to insure conformance to environmental regulations. Experience in managing the function of the work to be performed. Experience which includes leading, directing and assigning work of personnel.
