Summary

You will serve as a Supervisory General Attorney for the US Small Business Administration, COVID EIDL Loan Servicing Center - CESC in Fort Worth, Texas. This position serves as the Center Counsel and provides legal guidance regarding the handling of complex and/or sensitive loan servicing assignments. The selectee will be responsible for the direction and oversight of servicing and liquidation activities.

  • A one-year supervisory probationary period may be required.
  • This is not a bargaining unit position.
  • Current and active member in good standing of the bar of a state, territory of the United States, District of Columbia, or Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, and eligible to practice law.
  • You must meet all qualification requirements by the closing date of this announcement.

Basic Qualification Requirements:


Applicants must be law school graduates with LL.B. or J.D. degrees AND applicants must be an active member in good standing of a state, territory of the United States, District of Columbia, or Commonwealth of Puerto Rico bar.


Education completed in colleges or universities outside the United States may be used to meet the above requirements. You must provide acceptable documentation that the foreign education is comparable to that received in an accredited educational institution in the United States. Experience:

To receive credit, you must indicate the month and year as well as the average hours worked per week for each employer. Average work hours must be stated on the resume to quantify each period of work experience or that experience will not be credited toward meeting the specialized experience requirement.
You must address the specific specialized experience required for each grade level of this position on your resume or application or you will be rated "Ineligible" for that grade level.

GS-14: Applicant must have at least two (2) years of professional legal experience after admission to the bar, one (1) year of which was at a level of difficulty comparable to the next lower grade or equivalent to the GS13 in the Federal service; OR One (1) year of professional legal experience after receiving a Scientiae Juris Doctor degree (Doctor of Juridical Science degree). In addition, this Specialized Experience must demonstrate ALL the following:
  • Leading or supervising a diverse staff of employees to achieve organizational goals and objectives; AND
  • Interacting with internal and external customers such as senior managers within and outside an agency/organization; staff in other units; employees of state and local governments; members of the business community; and the general public; AND
  • Performing or overseeing quality assurance activities for an organization ensuring compliance with applicable rules, regulations, and guidelines; AND
  • Providing legal guidance and/or interpretation of local, state, and federal laws relating to an organization's practices and/or procedures in its daily operations; AND
  • Rendering legal opinions on points of law.

(There are no qualification standards published by the Office of Personnel Management as outlined in the OPM Qualifications Standards Handbook of the General Schedule Positions. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g. Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
