Supplier Development Engineer

Seeking a highly creative and driven candidate to perform material sourcing and planning leadership in support of new vascular device projects. This role will have ownership of material planning, sourcing, and inventory management for device development projects. Collaboration with cross functional team members will be critical to success in this role.

• Works closely with respective Project Team Leads.
• Understand New Product Development (NPD) needs vs Production needs
• Keep track of current lead times and inventory levels for critical items.
• Utilize technical background to ensure appropriate parallel paths are considered/executed.
• Driving Supplier Evaluation, Selection, Development, Qualification, and Product Launch Ramp-up in line with Commodity Strategies.
• Understands and actively manages product costed Bill of Materials.
• Ensures seamless transition to Operations before design transfer.
• Maintain current knowledge of latest manufacturing technologies.

• Identify vendors with highest capability.
• Identify vendors that may be a good strategic fit for our NPD business unit.
• Identify vendors with the highest capacity.
• Partnering with other supply chain and functional roles in the evaluation of supplier capabilities and business fit.
• Identifying potential new sources in technologies where category strategies do not yet exist.
• Driving Supplier Evaluation, Selection, Development, Qualification, and Product Launch Ramp-up in line with Commodity Strategies.

• Knowing and communicating sourcing risks early in the development cycle to drive mitigating designs and or focused Supplier Development.
• Creatively advocate for quick turnaround of quotes and reduced lead times.
• Navigate Syspro for purchase order requisition entry/or manage with purchasing.
• Follow up throughout the course of orders to ensure tracking to target dates.

• Manage components through their timely and appropriate release to the team.
• Manages material disposition for engineering/early production material.
• Ensures inventoried components are properly transacted from inventory. 

• Bachelor’s degree in a technology field (i.e. Engineering or related discipline)
• Demonstrate excellent team skills, positive attitude, and high ethical standards
• Proven ability to navigate New Product Development (NPD) projects
• 3-5 years’ experience in material sourcing
• Experience in medical device material sourcing and procurement is preferred.
