Supplier Quality Engineer

Position Overview:

Solid Power is seeking an Supplier Quality Engineer to join our talented team of engineers and scientists working to revolutionize the battery industry through the development of next generation, all solid‐state rechargeable batteries. Solid Power is a dynamic, fast‐paced, collaborative, and innovative team environment. The preferred candidate will have 5+ years of supplier quality engineering experience in a manufacturing or chemical processing environment.

Job Duties:

• Reviewing Solid Power manufacturing specifications to identify material requirements.
• Working with procurement sourcing and assessing the best vendor to supply the necessary materials.
• Visiting vendor facilities and observing the manufacturing environment to review and assess their procedures.
• Conduct supplier quality control audits on a regular basis to ensure vendors and their supplies remain in compliance with company and federal manufacturing and production standards.
• Reviewing incoming supplies and products to check for defects and ensure quality.
• Conducting tests and assessments on products to identify quality issues.
• Maintain detailed reports on supplier quality, including defect rates and areas that result in flaws.
• Providing technical advice and guidance to suppliers to reduce defect rates.
• Serving as a liaison between Solid Power’s senior management and the suppliers to identify quality issues and come up with solutions (8D).
• Review engineering and manufacturing specifications to identify materials needed for product assembly for all manufactured goods.
• Contact suppliers and liaise between product engineers, manufacturing personnel and suppliers to secure required materials for the production floor.
• Communicate with suppliers regularly to address any concerns and foster an environment that facilitates continual improvement in working relationships.
• Maintain a supplier database and include performance evaluations and quality control audits in the database for in-house access by company and manufacturing management personnel.
• Assist with logistics, including communications with suppliers when there are packaging and receiving issues when materials arrive at receiving dock.

Qualifications/Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in environmental engineering, chemical engineering, environmental health, or related discipline and 5+ years of experience in an environmental engineering/coordinator function.
• Manufacturing or chemical industry experience a plus.
• Solid and hazardous waste management for a large quantity generator.
• Wastewater and stormwater management, permitting, and controls.
• Air emission management, permitting, and controls.
• ISO 9001 (current revision) standards a plus.
• Excellent statistical analysis and quality assurance skills.
• In-depth knowledge of the technical aspects of manufacturing and engineering.
• Good working knowledge of quality control standards and government compliance.
• Experience with manufacturing and production processes and engineering principles.
• Ability to provide guidance to improve process efficiency.
• Excellent communication and liaison skills.
• U.S. citizenship or Permanent Residency required

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to wear a respirator.
• Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk.

Salary Range: $62,000 - $111,000/year
