Supplier Quality Manager
Job Description
Position Overview:
Solid Power is seeking a leader to join our talented team working to revolutionize the battery industry through the development of next generation materials and production of all solid-state rechargeable batteries. The preferred candidate will have hands-on experience in leading supplier quality management and driving a high-quality culture across the organization with data and development of systems, processes, and people. A strong background in statistics, problem solving, development of work instructions, and SAP is a plus. Strong knowledge of both ISO 9001 and IATF 16949 is preferred. This position is critical to ensuring Solid Power products are delivered to the market with the highest quality.
This position is responsible for multiple sites in the Denver area and is an on-premises role with limited remote work opportunities. Travel is required to meet the roles and responsibilities of the position (
Job Duties:
- Responsible for coordinating, leading, and carrying out implementation of supplier development systems used for new supplier evaluation, auditing, assessment, recognition, and continuous improvement roadmaps.
- Establish material specifications, approved supplier list and quality-based assessment tools for new materials and suppliers by working across departments. Establish incoming inspection plans and validation plans for change management.
- Develop key performance indicators (KPIs), monitor, and report quality metrics related to the risk, stability, and performance of individual suppliers. Ensure sound statistical practices are utilized for confident and effective monitoring, measuring and actions to control and validate supplier performance/conformance to specifications and contractual obligations.
- Conduct and support supplier, internal and customer audits.
- Support budget planning, control, and cost center leadership. Lead capital project activities in the relevant areas for quality deliverables.
- Exceed stakeholder expectations across departments and support risk management. Specific areas include the conformance to QMS requirements with particular focus on supplier risk profile, internal material review boards, root cause analysis, corrective/preventative actions, and management of change.
- Ensure EHS compliance and sustainability roadmaps exist and are demonstrated within the supply chain.
- Ensure training compliance for yourself and your team.
- Lead and implement process improvements and recognition program for the supply chain. Provide statistical information for quality development roadmaps.
Qualifications/Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in engineering, chemistry, or commensurate work experience in chemical or supply chain quality management.
- More than 4 years of management/leadership experience with chemical or hazardous material manufacturing / supply chain.
- Strong leadership competencies such as understanding others, conflict management, organizational agility, and technical skills.
Preferred experience:
- Implementing quality management systems (e.g., IATF 16949, ISO9001); expertise in automotive standards. CQE / CQM a plus.
- SAP S4 Hana Quality Management software implementation and other relevant quality software tool experience.
- Six Sigma Green Belt or higher certification.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of sitting and standing.
- Occasionally lifting and/or moving up to 50 pounds.
Salary Range: $96,000-$125,000
