The Role & What You Will Be Doing

The Global Supply Chain Analytics team provide insights, reporting, KPIs and general support to Supply Chain functions, designing and implementing Business Intelligence systems for the collection, management, analysis and visualisation of data.

As an experienced Business Intelligence Developer, you will contribute to our team with your deep expertise in SQL Server development, data warehousing and ETL processes as well as solution design and architecture for complex data systems. This role requires an individual who can take ownership of the entire solution lifecycle, from concept and design through implementation and maintenance.

You will be responsible for designing and developing innovative, scalable and high-performance database solutions that support the organisation’s strategic goals. As a senior member of the team, you will lead projects, mentor junior developers and collaborate with stakeholders to ensure that all solutions are aligned with business needs and best practices.

Project Leadership & Solution Design:

  • Lead and manage the full lifecycle of data projects, from requirement-gathering and design to implementation and support.
  • Collaborate closely with business stakeholders, data analysts and other development teams to understand project goals and deliver database solutions that meet business needs.
  • Lead the end-to-end design of data solutions that address complex business challenges, ensuring scalability, performance and reliability.
  • Architect and implement data models and database structures that support operational and analytical needs, optimising for both performance and maintainability.
  • Develop comprehensive database solutions, including the design of data warehouses, ETL pipelines, and PowerBI capabilities to support business intelligence initiatives.
  • Evaluate and select appropriate tools, technologies and approaches for database solutions, ensuring alignment with organisational goals and technical requirements.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation for solution designs, including data models, ETL workflows and database architecture diagrams.

Database Design & Development:

  • Design, develop and maintain SQL Server databases and related systems.
  • Create Analysis Services or PowerBI data models and database architecture that support scalable and efficient data storage and retrieval.
  • Write, optimise, troubleshoot and performance tune complex SQL queries, stored procedures and functions as well as DAX measures to ensure high-performance database operations.
  • Extend and maintain on-premise data warehouse and Azure Synapse data warehouse to support business intelligence initiatives.
  • Carry out performance tuning of SQL queries, stored procedures and overall database structures to ensure high availability and optimal performance.
  • Create and maintain comprehensive database documentation, including data models, ETL processes and system configurations.
  • Optimize ETL pipelines to ensure data accuracy, completeness and performance.

About Your Skills & Experience

For this role, we’re looking for a candidate who has an effective combination of the following qualifications, skills and experiences:

  • Strong SQL language skills (SQL Server).
  • Knowledge and understanding of data modelling and data design, e.g. fact and dimension tables, snowflake and star schema, etc.
  • Relevant hands-on experience as a Data Engineer, Data Modeler, Analytics Engineer or BI Developer.
  • Strong experience in data analysis, data profiling, cleansing, standardisation.
  • Solid Excel skills and data analysis skills.
  • Proven experience in solution design and architecture for complex data systems, including data warehouses, ETL pipelines and reporting systems.
  • Proven track record of leading and delivering complex data projects, including requirements gathering, solution design, development, and implementation.
  • Strong leadership abilities, with experience in managing teams and mentoring developers.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • A proactive, self-motivated individual with a focus on delivering high-quality solutions.

Nice to have:

  • Azure Data Factory experience.
  • Supply Chain or manufacturing exposure.
  • Familiarity with Sales and Operations Planning.
  • Familiarity with SAP ECC & SAP BW.
  • Experience with Python scripting.
  • Power Apps and Power Automate experience.
  • Data visualisation skills.
