Role Description:
You will be responsible for driving supplier management activities for specific parts & commodities and ensuring that Mill's hardware products meet our high quality bar for long term device performance. You will work closely with Mill's Hardware Engineering team during the product development process to ensure that our suppliers are prepared to deliver new products to market on-time, at specified quality parameters and at the lowest possible total cost. This is a hands-on role but also includes managing third parties to ensure complete coverage.
In this internship, you will be responsible for ensuring continuity of supply and achieving best-cost for the parts which you are assigned. You will be the single point of contact for a specific set of suppliers and parts.
Responsibilities:
- Work with suppliers to manage supply and cost.
- Drive supply for Engineering builds.
- Drive supplier mass-production readiness, including long L/T items (Tooling)
- Develop should-cost models for specific parts.
- Benchmark the industry to monitor cost and technology trends and ensure best practices are incorporated into the Mill's supply chain.
- Lead Total Cost Reduction program to ensure the lowest possible total cost, including product cost, transportation cost, inventory cost and cost of quality.
- Work with Technical Operations and CM partners to resolve any chronic part shortage or quality problems which are affecting production schedules.
- Negotiate part pricing.
- Roll up component costs from the BOM & work with engineering and sourcing to update the as design changes are encountered
- Deliver effective presentations of findings and recommendations to multiple levels of leadership by creating visual displays of quantitative cost and supply information.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s in engineering & pursuing a Master’s in Supply Chain or MBA
- 2 years of experience in operations or manufacturing
- Experience in program management and working with cross-functional teams to manage goals and decision-making.
- Experience managing Suppliers and Supplier relationship.
- Experience with slide presentations and presenting to executives.
Preferred Qualifications:
- 4 years of experience with procurement and supply chain.
- Experience in consumer product hardware development.
- Experience building cost models, analyzing cost trends, and assessing opportunities and risk for early-stage product development.
The estimated base hourly range for this position is $30 to $40, which does not include the value of benefits or a potential equity grant. A wide range of factors are considered in making compensation decisions, including but not limited to skill sets, market conditions, experience and training, licensure and certifications, and business and organizational needs. At Mill, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role.
