Position Details:

  • Oversee the selection of vendors and ordering of materials, supplies, and services to meet production demand
  • Create and manage tools to support daily demand and set necessary inventory levels (PFEP/Kanban)
  • Develop and recommend changes to purchasing procedures and policies
  • Review purchase requisitions for accuracy, approves requisitions, designates approved supplier, and assigns requisitions to staff of processing
  • Work with Engineering and Quality departments to establish supply chain for new parts
  • Review bids to ensure adherence to procedures and policies
  • Communicate with supplier changes in specifications, change orders, quantities, etc.
  • Be familiar with logistics for freight and experience with freight claims
  • Keep current with economic, industrial, and other commodities trends that affect markets and prices
  • May hire, train, evaluate employee performance, and recommend or initiate promotions, transfers, and disciplinary action
  • May supervise the maintenance of purchase order/invoice/receiving records system
  • Oversee inventory and maintenance of the inventory record system
  • Negotiate contracts and pricing
  • Evaluate vendor performance (On time delivery, quality, etc.)
  • Monitor inventory purchases for cost increases from vendors
  • Provide feedback to sales, finance, and management on cost increases to ensure appropriate pricing is maintained
  • Monitor PPV and collaborates with accounting to update inventory standard costs
  • Other responsibilities, as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma/GED required
  • 7 years' experience in Purchasing/Supply Chain
  • Experience with international buying and INCO terms
  • Willing to travel as needed to support products and evaluate suppliers
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills
  • Basic understanding of cost accounting for manufacturing

Physical Demands:

  • Normal working conditions absent extreme factors
  • Must be able to see well enough to read reports, send emails, etc.
  • Must be able to hear and speak well enough to communicate with customers, vendors, and fellow employees
  • Must be able to lift up to 25lbs periodically
  • Role is deemed safety-sensitive and may be subject to employer or customer drug testing

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in related field
  • Experience with lean manufacturing and lean terminology
  • Experience with Oracle
