Supply Chain Specialist - Pathway Program

NOV is actively recruiting ambitious college/university graduates for a Supply Chain Specialist role that will be part of our Pathway Rotational Program within the Rig Technologies Segment located in Houston, TX.

The NOV Pathway Rotational Program offers recent college graduates the opportunity to obtain meaningful work experiences through a structured 2-to-3-year rotational program. The program is designed to help participants develop strong functional/technical expertise and business knowledge through challenging, hands-on assignments and exposure to various groups across NOV. Towards the end of the program, participants will work with their management support team to identify full-time positions that best suit individual skill sets as well as company needs.

Participants remain on one career track based on education and career interest. Each career track has its own training and experience-based learning objectives, and knowledge and performance are evaluated following each rotation. The start date for this program will be January 23rd, but sooner start dates are available.

Following the operations career track, the primary responsibilities will be as follows:

• Maintain effective and proper relations with suppliers or their representatives.
• Place orders and determine requirements from engineering and production schedules.
• Monitor the movement of materials through the production cycle and maintain inventory at planned levels.
• Expedite the filing of orders by supplies to meet production.
• administer basic procurement functions such as maintaining more than one source of supply, verifying that planned purchase orders link to demand, suggesting changes or adjustments in quantities to take advantage of price breaks and trends.
• Release new requisitions as necessary for quotations and procurement to support required delivery of component parts or services.
• Participate in initiatives that will reduce the length of the supply chain, improve fill rates, and optimize inventory.
• Review and release work orders per the system demand, manage the system recommended messages, as well as maintain work order dates that adhere to the metrics for the organization.
• Regularly update work order due dates based on fluctuations in in-house capacity and the delivery schedules from vendors.
• Regularly update safety stock levels, order minimums and order multiples in the system.
• Keep the Planning manager aware about changes in the delays at work centers/machines and/or routers that would affect the lead time of the part so that the system can be kept up to date.
• Assist in troubleshooting supplier quality and/or production problems, determine the root cause and develop plans that yield results and sustainable improvements

We invite you to apply if you have the following qualifications and skills :

• Recent graduate (1-2 years) from Supply Chain Management or Industrial Engineering
• Experience with Microsoft Office, specifically Excel
• Working knowledge of ERP Systems (Oracle, SAP)
• Previous experience within the Oil & Gas industry considered an asset
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Excellent social skills with the ability to negotiate
• Self-directed and highly motivated
• Competitive personality with the ability to discover opportunity within gaps

About the Segment: Rig Technologies comprises three parts: Rig Equipment, Marine and Construction, and Aftermarket Operations. Our Rig Equipment team engineers and manufactures drilling rigs, advanced drilling equipment packages, and the related capital equipment (including top drives, iron roughnecks, drawworks, blowout preventers, mud pumps, risers, pipe handling, and power and control systems) necessary to drill oil and gas wells. Our Marine and Construction group supplies the offshore industry with heavy-lift cranes, mooring machinery, jacking systems, pipelay and cablelay systems, and marine riser tensioners.
