Job Description

NOV is actively recruiting ambitious college/university graduates for a Supply Chain Specialist role that will be part of our Pathway Rotational Program.

The NOV Pathway Rotational Program offers recent college graduates the opportunity to obtain meaningful work experiences through a structured 2-to-3-year rotational program. The program is designed to help participants develop strong functional/technical expertise and business knowledge through challenging, hands-on assignments and exposure to various groups across NOV. Towards the end of the program, participants will work with their management support team to identify full-time positions that best suit individual skill sets as well as company needs.

Participants can choose from multiple career track options based on education and career interest. Each career track has its own training and experience-based learning objectives, and knowledge and performance are evaluated following each rotation. The start date for this program will be June 12, 2023.

Downhole has a complex, multi-echelon supply that sources and delivers across the globe. Following the Supply Chain Management career track, your goals will focus on improving lead times, delivering product on-time, reducing cost and working capital. Your primary responsibilities may include but are not limited to the following functional areas:

  • Planning
    • Plan, schedule, and release manufactured and purchased parts and assemblies in an efficient manner while supporting company objectives regarding inventory, sales volume, product cost, scheduling, and customer demands
    • Review and release work orders per the system demand, manage the system recommended messages, as well as maintain work order dates that adhere to the metrics for the organization.
    • Keep Planning manager aware about applicable changes that would affect the lead time of the part so that the system can be kept up to date.
    • Regularly monitor and update safety stock levels in the system when necessary.
    • Perform other work-related tasks as assigned.
    • Comply with all NOV Company and HSE policies and procedures.
  • Global Order Management
    • Evaluate and manage orders to ensure they are accurately dated and achieve on-time delivery that meets/exceeds internal and external customer requirements.
    • Work with manufacturing planners, buyers, and distribution to meet delivery requirements in a cost-effective manner.
    • Provide updated information on order status and issues to all levels in the organization.
  • Strategic Procurement
    • Execute procurement functions such as maintaining sourcing data, verifying planned orders link to demand, maintaining date integrity, and evaluating opportunities to introduce procurement programs or adjust procurement and/or planning parameters.
    • Analyze spend data, supplier capabilities/performance, and supply constraints to effectively source product that meets/exceeds business requirements.
  • Supply Chain Management
    • Work with Operations and Product Line Management to forecast demand.
    • Review and update Bill of Distribution to effectively source product from manufacturing and suppliers through our multi-echelon supply chain.
    • Monitor and a correct master data which drives automation through our supply chain.
    • Monitor and improve supply chain performance in respect to delivery, cost, and working capital.
  • Continuous Improvement
    • We strive for continuous improvement within and across all functions.
    • Identify, propose, sell, and implement improvements that better lead times, ensure on-time delivery, reduce cost, and improve working capital.
    • Participate in problem-solving and process improvement initiatives that may involve system development, cross-functional process adjustments, and change management.

  • Recent graduate (1-2 years) from Supply Chain Management or Industrial Engineering

  • Experience with Microsoft Office, specifically Excel
  • Working knowledge of ERP Systems (JDE, Oracle, SAP)
  • Previous experience within the Oil & Gas industry considered an asset
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent social skills with the ability to negotiate
  • Self-directed and highly motivated
  • Competitive personality with the ability to discover opportunity within gaps
