Ballard Spahr LLP seeks a dynamic and successful marketing and communications professional to join the Ballard Spahr team as a Surveys and Rankings Specialist. The selected individual will be responsible for creating, managing, and executing the process of collecting, preparing, and distributing responses to industry and market surveys and directories. This includes all surveys related to the Firm, its legal departments and practice groups, offices, and other specialty areas (pro bono, diversity, etc.).
The Specialist must have strong project management skills to manage, execute, and track a significant annual survey response calendar. This position must also have strong communication skills to guide and create successful submissions. Organizationally, the Specialist works closely with the entire Marketing and Business Development Department, attorneys, Directors of Practice Management, and administrative staff across all offices of the firm. The Surveys and Rankings Assistant will report to this position.
Some of the responsibilities are as follows:
- Manage firm-wide surveys and rankings process, ensuring accountability and adherence to key internal and external deadlines for submissions.
- Oversee the timely preparation and submission of the Chambers, Legal500, Law360, Benchmark Litigation, AmLaw 200, Best Lawyers/Best Law Firms, Business Journal and all other survey and ranking submissions for the Firm.
- Work with attorneys to create targeted, strategic submissions; schedule and help prep for research interviews.
- Assess current and new opportunities for survey/ranking submission and present to relevant stakeholders with compelling supporting arguments to create schedule that offers the most value and return on investment based on available resources.
- Maintain Recognition and Rankings Database, ensuring all content is consistently up to date and accurate; provide reports as requested.
- Work with the Director of Marketing Operations and Marketing Technology team to own the process for entering Surveys and Rankings content into the Experience Database.
Required Skills
This position requires an entrepreneurial approach, strong organizational skills, and a penchant for proactive communication. This Specialist must be incredibly service-minded and have the ability to work independently, multi-task, and maintain a focus on priorities while meeting strict deadlines. A collaborative, consultative, and inclusive working style is paramount. A strong sense of urgency and eye for detail are required. The Surveys and Rankings Assistant will report to this position.
Required Experience
Requirements include a Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, or other related field and a minimum of 3 years of marketing experience; law firm experience a plus. Must be very detail oriented and organized with the focus to sustain a high level of quality and consistency at all times. Excellent written and oral communication skills is needed to be successful in this position. Must be able to work well under pressure in a demanding and fast-paced environment. This position can be located in Atlanta, Baltimore, Delaware, Las Vegas, Minneapolis, New Jersey, Philadelphia, Phoenix, Salt Lake City, Sioux Falls or Washington, DC and will be a hybrid work arrangement with 3 days in the office per week.
