Sustainability and Climate Project Manager

ERG is seeking a bright, motivated, and detail-oriented professional with experience in sustainability and climate-focused project management to work onsite at a federal agency in Arlington, VA.

Job Description:

• Develop, implement, and evaluate the success of programs that promote recycling and composting, environmentally preferable materials, climate resiliency, energy efficiency, renewable energy use, water conservation, and stormwater management
• Plan, track, and report on facility and organization-wide efforts to meet sustainability, green building, and climate resiliency goals and requirements
• Review building construction and renovation designs and specifications for sustainable features, climate resiliency, net-zero emissions opportunities, adherence to the Guiding Principles for Sustainable Federal Buildings, and LEED certification requirements
• Assess facilities, sites, and planning documents for opportunities to improve sustainability, green building practices, and climate resilience
• Assess and assist in efforts to reduce facility energy consumption, water use, greenhouse gas emissions, waste, and operating costs
• Document strategies, best practices, procedures, and achievements in various written deliverables such as sustainability plans, guidance, specifications, manuals, and outreach materials
• Prepare and lead trainings related to sustainability and climate programs

Qualifications and Skills:

• At a minimum, a B.S. degree in sustainability, environmental or climate science, engineering, or a related field
• Five years of relevant experience supporting sustainability programs
• Minimum 3.0 GPA
• Must have the ability to obtain DoD Secret clearance, which requires U.S. citizenship
• LEED credentials (Green Associate or AP)
• Experience managing projects and small teams
• Knowledge and experience in topics related to sustainable facility management and operations, as described above
• Familiarity with federal sustainability requirements resulting from Executive Orders 14057 and 14008, the Energy Act of 2020, the Energy Independence and Security Act (EISA) of 2007, and the Guiding Principles for Sustainable Federal Buildings
• Strong technical capabilities and the written/verbal communication skills necessary to regularly interface with clients and ERG colleagues
• Ability to manage and prioritize concurrent projects and meet tight deadlines
• Excellent critical thinking and attention to detail to develop high-quality, client-ready deliverables
• Proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
