Sustainability Engineering Program Manager (SiG) - Franklin, TN
The Sustainability Engineering/Sustainable in a Generation (SiG) Program Manager is responsible for centrally managing the SiG for Operationsprogram for Mars Pet Nutrition North America. The SiG Program Manager leads program standardization and overall successful project execution within manufacturing to deliver business objectives. This role will develop a long-term strategy and roadmap in partnership with global engineering, regional engineering, sites and other technical teams. This role requires strong communication, interpersonal and team building skills to foster engagement within the SiG community and support Pet Nutrition North America (PNNA) SiG objectives. The SiG program manager is an active member of the Engineering community, site technical teams and regional/global community of practices. Total SiG CapEx budget can range up to $20M annually.
What are we looking for?
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering required
- 10+ years experience in a comparable technical position desirable - food, beverage, pharmaceutical or related industry preferable
- Understanding of engineering principles - Process is required, utilities/sustainability knowledge is a plus. Knowledge of multiple disciplines preferred.
- Proven large project leadership (>$10M CapEx)
- Demonstrated effective interpersonal and influencing skills as well as ability to understand business strategies and translation into Supply programs.
- Strong thought partner and critical thinking skills
- Able to work collaboratively with other groups
- Up to 40% travel requirement depending on project requirements
What will be your key responsibilities?
- Champion the overall SiG program across Pet Nutrition North America (PNNA), including multi-year roadmap development, deployment, execution and continuous improvement
- Provide thought partnership in strategic discussions, and influence cross-segment, regional, global teams, community of practices and stakeholders on SiG program management
- Develop, implement and improve SiG training programs, including capability development and documentation
- Manage and report PNNA SiG KPI results to regional and global stakeholders
- Perform effective risk and issue management to minimize/mitigate risks and issues, including gap assessments and course-correct KPI gaps
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure team engagement on SiG program and projects
- Ensure appropriate resource availability and allocation to support SiG execution and program sustainability
- Motivate and drive teams to ensure timelines are met, identify risks and remove obstacles
- Provide strategic and tactical leadership to project, engineering and site technical teams
- Drive adherence to the SiG program and playbook
- Develop scope and execute SiG capital projects per the Engineering Work Process (EWP)
- Manage CapEx SiG budget forecasts and provide ongoing reconciliation of capital expenditures
- Cultivate an innovation mindset, including investigating the latest technologies to drive the Mars SiG ambition of Zero Green House Gas emissions, and assessing 3rd party expertise and government programs/incentives
