Your Opportunity

Our Global Mining team has a need for a Mining Sustainability Intern based out of our office in Chandler, AZ. You would work within our mining, minerals and metals team in support of various clients in completing exciting projects such as underground and surface mining operations, conceptual projects and closure studies. In this role you can grow alongside the best in the industry to enrich your career path by making a positive impact. Your role will be to assist the mining team including sustainability leaders, project managers, technical staff and multi-discipline specialists in the development of ESG programs of work and completion of mining projects.

Your Key Responsibilities

Health and Safety

• Understanding and working per the requirements of the Stantec Safety Culture. • Working in compliance with all Health and Safety rules and regulations for Stantec and its Clients.
• Developing an understanding of applicable safety codes, regulations and guidelines.

Role and Tasks

• Site health and safety planning and completing work safely.
• Collect, and interpret data, research topics such as standards and technologies, and conduct analyses.
• Performs a variety of tasks which may include identifying, cataloging, or analyzing proposed project solutions to quantify and reduce Mining GHG emissions or other ESG relevant to a mining environment.

• Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
• Strong analytical skills, and attention to detail with the ability to recognize discrepancies.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills, with both clients and project team members.
• Ability to manage multiple projects at once and meet strict project deadlines.

Education and Experience

• Graduated high school with intent to work towards a Bachelor's degree in Sustainability, Environmental Science, Engineering, Geology, or related field.
• Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office
