Sustainability Intern (Summer 2023)

We are hiring for a Sustainability Intern for Summer 2023 who is interested in greenhouse gas accounting, environmental reporting, and corporate sustainability.

The Sustainability Intern will work with Lyft’s Sustainability Team on projects over the course of the summer that focus on environmental reporting, including: 

• Developing Lyft's 2023 GHG footprint – across Scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions
• Leading Lyft’s engagement with a third-party verifier
• Supporting Lyft’s carbon disclosure to the CDP, including incorporation of new reporting fields
• Engaging internal stakeholders on key environmental goals and targets, including science-based target submission process
• Developing long-term science-based targets (and potentially other environmental goals)

• Current graduate student studying engineering, business, sustainability, environmental management, public policy or relevant degree
• Professional experience working in cross-functional teams
• Carbon accounting experience, including knowledge of relevant protocols & standards
• Experience developing corporate sustainability programs, especially carbon footprint measurement and verification
• Proficiency in Google Docs / Microsoft Office
• Knowledge of Lyft's brand and mission
• Nice to have but not essential: SQL, Scripting Language (Python or R)
• Proven self-starter with an entrepreneurial and scrappy spirit
• Exceptional problem-solving and presentation skills
• Strong interpersonal skills
• Quantitative excellence
