The Sustainability Manager plays a key role in Shearer’s sustainability strategy. The position manages key programs and guides cross functional teams in the delivery of corporate social responsibility and environmental sustainability goals. The position reports to the Vice President of Procurement and works cross-functionally between Supply Chain, Commercialization, Operations, and Vendor Partners. The ideal candidate will have broad experience and subject matter expertise in corporate sustainability, ESG strategy and reporting, and excellent project management, interpersonal and problem-solving skills. This is an exciting opportunity to work on a wide range of sustainability projects in the food industry. This position is available for remote work.

Your Seat at the Table:

• Implement and manage all aspects of Shearers sustainability strategy across product, material and supply chain responsibility. Scope of job includes supply chain social and environmental responsibility, product and material sustainability certifications, material circularity initiatives, traceability of materials and supply chain locations, climate/carbon reductions across the value chain, and ESG reporting.
• Collect and analyze data, develop reports and recommendations to inform the sustainability strategy and related company initiatives.
• Research, develop and implement needed policies, procedures and systems in collaboration with cross functional product and operations teams.
• Continuously monitor sustainability trends, leading practices, relevant industry certifications, legal requirements that may affect the company and adapt programs as needed
• Complete any external reporting as required by Shearer’s customers
• Continuously keep abreast of ESG reporting standards and develop a system to report sustainability efforts based on the sustainability strategy recommendations internally
• Develop regular update reports and presentations to senior management.
• Manage program budget
• Lead and develop scope of work and ownership for audit and compliance requirements

What You Bring to the Table:

• The ideal candidate will have broad experience and subject matter expertise in corporate sustainability, ESG strategy and reporting, and excellent project management, interpersonal and problem-solving skills
• 5 years of relevant sustainability experience
• A bachelor's degree in a relevant field
• Demonstrated understanding of key sustainability practices within supply chain, and products and materials
• Keen understanding and interest in sustainability good, better and best practices
• Exceptional cross-functional management skills; ability to bring people together around a common goal and lead by influence
• Strong written and presentation skills, both internally and externally
• Self-starter with exceptional project management skills and adept at synthesizing complex inputs from multiple stakeholders
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to influence and communicate effectively across interdisciplinary internal teams and managing relationships with a variety of external stakeholders
• Strong computer skills, including Windows, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
