The Sustainable & Transition Solutions team is made up of some 40 people globally. We lead BlackRock's sustainability and transition strategy. We drive cross-functional change. We support client and external engagement. And we power product ideation and embed sustainability expertise across the firm. This is a big deal; BlackRock managed $586 billion in sustainable assets as of end 2022.

About the roles

We are seeking a high-energy, self-motivated and organized Analyst who is passionate about sustainability to join STS in a multi-faceted and dynamic role.

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work across all functions in our business:

  • Strategy & Transformation - sets firmwide sustainability strategy and drives cross-functional commercial, regulatory and reputational initiatives.
  • Policy & External Engagement - partners with External Affairs to engage on policies that affect balanced investment strategies, product innovation and regulatory compliance.
  • Client Engagement & Sales - drives the commercialization of our sustainable and transition strategies in partnership with sales teams and product strategists.
  • Content strategy - develops and coordinates thought leadership and communications with clients and other partners.

You'll have the ability to build and expand your BlackRock network by working with many partner teams on projects of strategic importance, develop a wide breadth of skills, and pursue areas of personal interest in the sustainability ecosystem.

Our team is the connective tissue on all things sustainable for BlackRock. We work closely with the Sustainable Investment Research & Analytics team within the BlackRock Investment Institute, Aladdin Sustainability Lab, Global Product Group, Global Client Business, External Affairs, Portfolio Management Group and EII to deliver whole portfolio solutions for our clients.

The ideal candidate has:

  • 1-3+ years of relevant strategy and/or climate/sustainability experience, preferably in investment management, management consulting, corporate strategy and development, or a think tank. More experienced candidates will be considered for Associate role.
  • Proficient ability to be organized with strong project management skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to synthesize information, summarize issues and think creatively
  • Effective communicator with the ability to translate complex investment and sustainability topics into easy-to-understand memos and presentations for senior leadership and external partners
  • High attention to detail and robust proofing skills
  • A self-starter who can operate with limited supervision
  • Dedicated team player with a strong sense of ownership
  • A collaborative teammate that is ready to take on a full range of tasks and pursue additional responsibility quickly

For New York City only: The salary range for this position is $95,000 - $110,000. Additionally, employees are eligible for an annual discretionary bonus, and benefits including heath care, leave benefits, and retirement benefits. BlackRock operates a pay-for-performance compensation philosophy and your total compensation may vary based on role, location, and firm, department and individual performance.

Our hybrid work model

BlackRock's current hybrid work model is designed to enable in-person connections and collaboration that is core to our culture, while supporting increased flexibility for all employees. In line with local health guidance and regulations, employees are required to work at least 3 days in the office each week, with the flexibility to work from home up to 2 days a week. Some business groups may require more time in the office due to their roles and responsibilities.
