Sustaining Operations Manager

ColdQuanta is doing the most comprehensive systems engineering work to build the most useful quantum computer based on cold atoms. Here you will build new industry instead of small product iterations in a matured industry.

We are assembling a quantum "chip" at single atom level every second and doing Rydberg magic with lasers to run quantum circuits that aim to help customers to discover drugs faster and optimize the power grid.

We are looking for someone who wants to be accountable and responsible for maintaining the performance of our first quantum computers and ensuring a continuous availability for our customers. This will involve

Develop and lead a team to ensure service with 24x7 rotation (after proper ramp-up)

Develop training plan for service team

Work with engineering team to ensure troubleshooting documentation and tools are ready

Work with reliability team to maintain and improve the incident management lifecycle and establish effective feedback loops. Drive improvement and automation of metrics and alerts

Work with engineering and reliability teams to develop and execute maintenance plans

Requirements

Someone in this position would ideally have a B.Sc. in an engineering discipline and at least 10 years of relevant experience. If you took a different path, apply and tell us about your journey!

While we know you will bring a lot to the team, we need you to have:

Proven track record of managing operations in a 24/7 environment

Statistics, in particular statistical process control and quality management

Physics fundamentals

Failure analysis, corrective action plans

Experience of complex systems (involving layers of hardware, firmware, software)

Experience with Python, Git, command-line interface in Linux environment

Experience interfacing with multi-disciplinary engineering team (optics, vacuum, mechanical, electronics, firmware/software)

It would be even better if you have experience with:

Six Sigma methodology

Experience with cloud services
