Role Description
This leadership position of Senior Vice President of Canopy Engineering will be responsible for the Companyâs custom software application portfolio, as well as contributing to our technology leadership broadly. The position will manage a team and oversee functions that relate to the software development and the maintenance/ongoing efficient operations of custom applications. The VP will be responsible for all development projects and that solutions are delivered on-time, under budget, and in close alignment with the business operations owners.
Responsibilities

• Sets the mission and vision of the Application Development organization to foster a business-oriented culture and mindset driven by continual service improvement techniques
• Leads the Software Development team and direct activities to ensure smooth operational running.
• Manages software development teams, working with the respective teams across technology
• Manages the development and deployment of web and mobile applications.
• Ensures deadlines are met and proactively anticipate and deal with potential delivery bottlenecks/failures
• Works with business owners to ensure deadlines and customer expectations are met
• Works with the business teams to ensure customers are informed of progress
• Ensures best practices in agile development. May step into roles as a technical lead, scrum master and program manager when required
• Expert at continuous integration, branching and forking techniques, migration of developments between environments
• Understands and follows industry trends ensuring that software best practices are put in place and are being followed on a day to day basis (code reviews, architectural patterns etc.)
• Establishes standards targeted at maintaining a consistent quality and audit-ready performance.
• Sets measurable objectives and standards for team membersâ performance and conduct. Conducts performance reviews following company guidelines
• Trains, mentors and leads employees on Company standards and best practices

What weâre looking for
Weâre looking for motivated, experienced IT leaders with:

• Minimum 15+ years of proven experience running development or IT projects
• Proven real world experience
• 10+ years of progressive software delivery management experience
• Business focus and experience from a similar role in an enterprise technology or Software as a Service (SaaS) company
• Solid experience managing people and budgets
• Software development management experience
• Proven ability to deal with conflicting viewpoints/demands on the development projects
• Experience managing successful teams required
• US work authorization
